Have you ever run across a US $20 bill with a row of numbers written in red or pink ink across one end of the back side?

Just wondering. They’re out there somewhere.

Do you mean money with red numbers minted on, or handwritten on?

If you mean stamped or written on the money, then yes I have gotten a lot at work. Lots of them say to visit a website to track the bill, some have other dumb stuff on it. I am sure I have gotten some with numbers, but I don’t remember.

I’ll have to start paying more attention, because now I am curious to see.

I work at a gas station, I get a whole ton of twenties every day. Not a lot look pretty and have tape on them, writing, or other weird stains.

I had a money order with over $900 worth of twenties… what a nightmare

I should add, I looked more into this and some of that red/pink lettering could mean it’s a counterfeit.

I use a pen at work to check 20s, 50s, or 100s, so the ones I have gotten with writing were not fake per the pen.

Handwritten. Just written on by hand with a pen along the short edge of the reverse side. A string of numbers like, say, 10714021715128611.

Oh ok, then I think I have seen some? I don’t recall that long but I’ve seen number on money.

What does it mean?

Sounds serendipitous.

Have you heard of Where’s George?
It is a website for tracking dollar bills of any denomination. The bills are stamped with a mark saying something like:
“See where I’ve been. Go to Wheresgeorge.com”
“Registered at Wheresgeorge.com.”

It’s kind of a nerdy thing to do but it is fun to get an email with a hit from somewhere across the country.

@LuckyGuy, no, but that reminds me of the thing with books that was popular maybe 10 years ago: you put some kind of ID number in the front of a book and then left it to be found somewhere as a free book. The finder could look up the number and report finding it. Some books had quite a journey. I released quite a few books into the wild, including on a 4800-mile road trip, but I never found any.
