Congratulations @cookieman!
You are one of my most favorite people ever! You are kind, talented in multiple ways, funny and can give zingers with the best of them.
So glad you have made it to the 40k floor of the mansion.
We have a room all ready for you with the best lighting for your painting.
But first, head out to the pool for the party. It’s in full swing right now.
I have brought a cookie “charcuterie” platter to the poolside party. There are shortbread, chocolate chip, Russian tea cakes, sugar cookies, rugelach, Black and Whites, oatmeal raisin and because you are Italian – a little antipasti on another platter. Enjoy!
O!
M!

What a wonderful achievement!!
Congratulations!
I’ll be right back. . . . . got to get me some girl Scout cookies !
Wicked awesome ! ! !
C is for cookie, it’s good enough for me . . .
Holy dough!
Forty freaking thousand…..!!!
You are lucky that twenty days ago I quit eating sweets and everything with added sugars, otherwise I would’ve eaten you :-)
Congratulations!
You are truly worthy of residing on the big four-oh floor!
Congrats
Celebrating in the Cookie Aisle of my local Stop and Shop.
CONGRATS COOKIEMAN!!! It’s not even showing in my feed yet, but GREAT JOB!!!
40K, that’s one hell of a cookie.
You are one of my favorite jellies and I truly care about you. Congratulations.
Thank you so much everybody!!
I really lurve this lagoon and all of you most of all. A special thank you to the Penguin for starting the festivities!
In all seriousness for a moment — this wonderful place has helped me in so many ways over the past fourteen years. I am truly grateful to you all, those who’ve come before, and BenDrew for starting this wacky joint.
((BEAR HUGS)) all around!!
Now let’s…eat…some…COOKIES!!
Nice. One of our best and brightest (and most appetizing) for sure. Congrats!
Congorats Cookie Monster!
OMG! I didn’t know I could eat more cookies in the 40k mansion too!
Congrats!
Okay, serious question: Do you dunk your cookies in a beverage?
And, if so, which beverage and which type of cookie?
I got some cookies here! Anyone want any?
I rarely dunk cookies in milk. I simply eat the cookies and drink the milk.
40Kongratulations @cookieman and 40Kookies It’s a pleasure having you around.
PS Chocolate chip cookies are the best. I take mine with a cup of tea.
This gives me an excuse to eat some cookies to celebrate! Congratulations, @cookieman! 40k is nothing to sneeze at!
Oh, to answer your question, I like my cookies dunked in milk, tea (with milk) or coffee (with milk).
Personally, I can’t stand soggy cookies – no dunking for me!
I don’t like or drink milk, so my cookies are dunk free.
I put the milk in my coffee, then I dunk the cookies. It adds a flavor dimension that I like.
Fabulous answers! Milk is, of course, the classic dunking destination. While I eat my beloved chocolate chip cookies sans dunking, I like to dunk more biscuit/shortbread style cookies in hot coffee with cream.
Cookie Question No. 2
Do you prefer crispy or soft cookies, and why?
Soft! Because more of the cookie gets in my mouth. The crunchy ones seems to crumble on the table.
Ah, @chyna — so you subscribe to the Cookie Monster style of crispy cookie eating. How much cookie actually ends up in his mouth? Putting aside the fact that he has no throat.
Where the hell are my Girl Scout cookies??
Crunchy, of course. That’s the point of cookies!
I think you have to have some crunchy bits for sure. @RedDeerGuy1 is on to something. Best of both worlds.
@Dutchess_III: Homemade, from the mixing bowl or the over the counter stuff that doesn’t have real egg in it (like you might find in ice cream)?
This is Girl Scout Cookie season. I’ve seen them out and about.
Store bought or homemade, they both taste exactly the same @cookieman. So either / or.
Of Note
Both the Fig Newton and Toll House Chocolate Chip cookies originated in my home state of Massachusetts, but the Chocolate Chip Cookie was named official state cookie in 1997.
Q.
Does anyone like Fig Newtons?
@cookieman Being a Mass resident for many years, I am proud to love Fig Newtons and Toll House CC cookies.
One of my former work colleagues Grandmother was Ruth Wakefield who invented them.
Nice! Some love for Fig Newtons.
@Forever_Free: No way! That woman is my hero. Along with Mrs. Fields.
I actually give a compositing assignment in my Photoshop class about Ruth and Toll House.
My Dad would but fig newtons and coconut macaroons, figuring the kids wouldn’t eat them. He was right.
@SEKA: It took me a long while to appreciate them, but I do now.
@filmfann: Chocolate dipped coconut macaroons are fabulous.
@KRD: So no Tate’s twice baked for you then.
Q.
How does everyone feel about biscotti?
Biscotti is too hard. I need something that is just right.
About milk and oreo, I realized that the milk helps make the cookies less sweet, and the cookies make the milk sweeter. You get the best of both world :)
@cookieman It is definitely an acquired taste. My uncle was a Nabisco salesman and we got the Newtons for free. Mom wouldn’t buy the cookies we preferred until we ate up all the Newtons because it was a waste of good food as well as a waste of money. We kids choked and gagged our way through until we got used to the taste
Huge congrats to @cookieman on the much-deserved milestone! This may be controversial, but Newtons aren’t cookies, they’re fruit and cake…
@gorillapaws: Ooh, interesting take.
@chyna: My wife makes homemade biscotti, but does not double bake them so they’re not hard. She makes almond and chocolate/hazelnut.
Well done. Tip of the hat to a true lynch pin of this place.
Hey @cookieman! Congrats on the well deserved 40k!
You add so much flavor to the mix. A little more chocolate please!
I have especially loved you since your old question about being the only person left who remembers a certain story or event. (Found it!) Cookieman’s question about memories
I have thought about that many times over the years when meeting old friends, classmates, and relatives,
Thank you for all you do.
@LuckyGuy: Thank you and thank you for remembering that question. I like that one a lot too.
@everyone. What should we have for refreshments? Its on me.
@KRD: Good point. Gotta wash down all these cookies. I’ll take an iced coffee please.
How great to find this celebration in progress! Here’s my small offering, together with warm congratulations for @cookieman and a hope for many more.
I have a weakness for balloons, especially helium balloons, which are joy in material form. I’m helpless to resist them myself, and I love to share them. I wish I could post one of the really great balloon pictures, but let these be a token.
Or wait—here’s a better one, even though it has no confetti.
It’s harder to find good (free) linkable images than it used to be.
Very good.
I feel that way about hot air balloons. My wife and I have been to a few hot air balloon festivals (in New England and Montreal) which were amazing!!
Well since this is the cookie mansion now, I suggest… LOT AND LOT OF MILK!
I FOUND MY GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! Anybody want one?
@KRD: Nice! Thank you for sharing.
Slim mints, caramel delights, lemon cookies and shortbread @cookieman.
Ooh, I love the mint ones.
Wicked awesome, @cookieman! I’m sending an entire truckload of Necco wafers to your front door.
Necco Wafers?!?!
nnnoooooooooooo…
Late to the paahty…busy baking chocochippers for the Mansion.
Congrats, cookieman Your honor, Sir! <<bows and offers the first cookie and a tall ice-cold glass of milk on a silver tray>>
Well done. I can help carry some stuff up the stairs.
“Ooooooh. . . pre-e-etty!”
@MrGrimm no, that’s fine, you don’t need to help. How about just sit there while we get you some cookies :)
@MrGrimm888 nice to see you around! Have fun at the party.
What is it like in the 40k mansion?
We have naked pancake parties in the dark.
^^ Yes, that and the thread count on the bamboo sheets is incredible. I wake up every day now with a fresh baked cookie on the pillow beside me, which is nice.
I love this thread. It feeds my cookie craving
OMG!
2 cups sugar
½ cup milk
1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Large pinch kosher salt
Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment.Bring the sugar, milk, butter and cocoa to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, then let boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Add the oats, peanut butter, vanilla and salt, and stir to combine.Drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, and let sit at room temperature until cooled and hardened, about 30 minutes. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
We were at one of Rick’s family reunions once. My grand daughter was about 4. She had a no bake for the first time. Her eyes flew open in shocked delight! She damn near ate all of them!
^^ Thank you! I will be trying those.
Belated CONGRATULATIONS, Cookieman! 40K is an amazing feat!
@KRD. His avatar pretty much says it all.
@chyna is correct, but there’s not many cookies I don’t like.
Not a fan of white chocolate, snickerdoodles, or cookies with jam/jelly in or on them. Otherwise, I’m all in. ::munch::
I didn’t get a Thin Mints this year. NOT ONE!!!
@Dutchess_III: Me neither. My daughter picked up Caramel Delights, Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter, and some new one that was like cinnamon toast.
How dare she!
Take her out of your Will forthwith!!
