Would a priority system for each households power help a power grid?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24944points) February 22nd, 2022

Also how would you prioritize your electricity usage? Instead of rolling brown or blackouts? Where everyone is given a little bit of power to use as they see fit?

For example:

My highest priority to lowest:
1) Bathroom lights
2) Freezers and fridge’s for food
3) Clocks and radio
4) All other lights
5) Power outlets
6) Internet
7) Cable TV
8) Air conditioning
9) Laundry machines
10) Everything else

How would your prioritize your power usage better?

I’d make freezer and fridge number 1 and internet number 2. My bathroom has a window so it’s not as big of a deal.I also keep lots of LED flashlights handy just in case of power failure. Not perfect, but it works

I like your thought; however, I don’t think there is any such system being planned…& IF it was in the works, the powers that be would fight it due to the expense for the provider!!!

I can survive without lights. Internet – I can use my cell phone. Fridge/freezer would be 1st priority because the food would go bad soon. I am keeping my eye open for power backup for it. So far nothing low cost is available.
