Would it be OK to eat chocolate cake for breakfast?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) February 28th, 2022

Would it be any different than having pancakes with syrup?

Listen, most breakfast cereals are mostly sugar anyway, while being marketed as a “healthy breakfast”.
So eat your cake, it is fine.

OK? Send me one. I am more than eager to sacrifice and dedicate myself to the research required to settle this vital issue!

Eat the cake. Do whatever you want. You have raised a family, overcome hardship, looked after grandchildren, your time is now.
Eat the damned cake.

And really, after all is said and done, how we choose our meal foods is usually a matter of cultural preference, nothing more. A baked thing is well within cultural tradition.

And with coffee, really excellent!

A guy at the poker game Saturday converted about a pound of strawberries to a reduction, which he then incorporated into the batter and cream cheese frosting of a triple layer cake. It was the most wonderful pink thing I’ve come across since a certain girl in my very distant past.

It’s got eggs and antioxidants.

Eat the cake! (Some of my best breakfasts have been cake.)

We’re all going to die from something. If chocolate cake for breakfast is your preferred poison, I say go for it

Zillions of people buy donuts (and coffee) for breakfast. Not a whole lot of difference between cake and donuts.

Now – Pizza isn’t just for breakfast any more.

My husband does it. He has a sweet tooth in the morning. I think cake with icing is about the same as pancakes loaded with butter and syrup. I eat anything any time. Always have.

kritiper's avatar

Eat away! But you may skip the icing.

~Chocolate yes… Vanilla no.

I guess I better go get a cake!

Go for it, live a little. Eat the whole thing, that’s what Alka Seltzer is for.

Absolutely, my dear. You are a grownup and can with impunity eat treats before—or instead of—a proper meal. After I became a parent, I often indulged in four cookies right before dinner. I think I mainly relished the idea of getting away with something.

My son, when he was about six, caught me at it once. I told him he was looking at adult hypocrisy: I could indulge, but he wasn’t allowed.

Shortly after that, I caught him munching cookies just before supper and reprimanded him. He looked me straight in the eye, swallowed his mouthful, and said, “Too late now.”

Just remember to have some broccoli for dessert.

Try to finish before it expires and dries out.

Everything is okay in moderation. If you do it every morning then no. Even I’ve had a slice of leftover cake for breakfast. Enjoy!

RocketGuy's avatar

Well, the cake has grains, eggs, and dairy, which are part of a balanced diet. I would supplement with some kind of protein (bacon?) and fruit to get the other parts.

janbb's avatar

@nightwolf5 Even you? Oh no – the horror, the horror!

nightwolf5's avatar

@janbb Well yes, even me. Usually the day after a holiday or special event though, especially birthdays!

^^ Sounds good to me!

I may be a gorilla, but I’m not an animal… Is it too much to ask for a modicum of civility in the questions asked on here?

elbanditoroso's avatar

What did Marie Antoinette supposedly say?

Let them eat cake!

JLeslie's avatar

@RocketGuy You aren’t trying to actually argue it’s healthy are you? Lol. :).

I just saw a YouTube video from Krispy Kreme. Where they had the Twix infused chocolate doughnuts. Yum. No Krispy Kreme in Red Deer.
Eating The NEW Twix Krispy Kreme Donuts!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Of course it’s healthy @JLeslie. It has grain, eggs and milk. Just not for every meal because lots of sugar and oil.

filmfann's avatar

The cake is a lie.

What’s going on with you? I turn around for a second and you’re scarfin down ribeyes, lobster and cake. Lobsters in Kansas!!!

Refined grains, which are basically the same as sugar, then more sugar, and a ton of fat and cholesterol. Plus, very little vitamins and minerals for all of those calories unless the flour has vitamins added. Most flour used in America probably is enriched, but I guess we shouldn’t guess. The government does make some efforts to give people the vitamins and minerals they need that we strip away in our processing of our typical foods we eat.

It wouldn’t be a big deal if the majority of the American diet today wasn’t already a ton of fat and sugar. I’m sure my cardiologist would put a big skull and cross bones on cake for me. Lol.

Not that I’m saying you shouldn’t have your cake. Like I said above, enjoy the cake any time of day that moves you.

Eat what you want when you want, there’s no laws against that. Your body, your choice.

jca2's avatar

Eat what you like and a reminder to everyone to get your blood work checked annually (glucose levels, TSH, cholesterol, vitamin levels, etc.). Ladies make sure to get your mammogram. Just a reminder.

Dutchess_III's avatar

^^^^^ Yes Muuuuther!

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Oh for crying out loud. Y’all going to eat the doggone cake, or philosophize about it? Send the dang thing my way, it’ll be dealt with properly. Never met a cake I didn’t like.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I don’t have any cake in the house. ;(

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Much ado about nothing then. As the Bard would have said : )

My buddy wrote “Relax and Enjoy Your Food” to advise average people on how to eat well without spending a lot of money. He emphasizes balance more than labeling any food as good or bad.
