A friend told me that 85% of Republicans would vote for Trump if he ran again.
Would you guess that is accurate?

Many learned their lesson so I’d guess half as many as did the first time.
However, of those who learned their lesson, why they couldn’t see the writing on the wall before he was elected is beyond me.
I think it was reported that only 78% voted for him last time. That’s how Biden so easily stole the election!!! One thing I’m pretty sure of is that NONE of those unwilling to vote for him are going to say it out loud!!! What I see is a press corp who are willing to keep 45 relevant just so they can make a buck!!! I’ve got a lot of right wing friends who are intelligent & I’m hoping that they will come to their senses.
That sounds about right. And an equal percentage of Democrats (like me) will never ever vote for a Republican again. Democrats are patriots that beleive in the Constititution.
40–60% He’s pretty unpopular with the center-right. If he runs again it’s a losing proposition for Republicans.
Since colonials are party-line voters, definitely around the 90% mark.
The worse thing’s get the higher the number will rise. Last year, I’d have said @45% (ironic) but now I’d say @55.%
Many feel the oil-Putin situation was managed under Trump.
Your friend is obviously an avid Trumper.
My guess is 33%
The percentage should be quite high. Probably in the 80–90% range. Remember that many will be voting against the democrat as well as those voting for trump. Most feel that the problems we have today are a direct result of the Biden/democrat policies. Anyone that can fix that will get a lot of support. Trump is not the only one that can fix it but he’s proven he can.
I am surprised at @KNOWITALL, @kritiper, and @smudges thinking Trump is not supported by the overwhelming majority of Republicans.
When people speak of the polarization of the American electorate, they are talking about how the GOP overwhelmingly supports Trump and will not take any steps to mitigate that support.
Trump running does not mean he will get the RNC nod.
If he got the nod by the RNC the number is going to depend on who the candidates are for the DNC.
Too little to go on to make an intelligent guess.
@zenvelo It should not be a surprise, he’s not that popular with mainstream Republicans.
I’m with @ragingloli. Most public Never Trump Republicans have left the party so the percentage will be higher.
@Caravanfan You most certainly live on the west coast then. There is a silent majority in the Republican party in the more moderate, populated areas of the south that don’t want Trump. They have not left the party, they’re just not signing on to another term of that PR dumpster fire. They may vote for a moderate democrat but they’re not going to go as far as to leave the Republican party.
I’m with @Jaxk on this one. Joe Biden took a situation that was not great but was not nearly as bad as it could have been and he made sure it was pushed farther towards as bad as it could be. His policies are not popular even with Democrats. The entire Democrat party is losing followers because of the direction they are pushing things. So I’m pretty sure you could put Trump back into the mix and he would walk away with it.
He took a porous southern border and put standards into place to help stem the tide. By the way, it should be noted that the Dems fought against every single action he took. The overwhelming feeling in America is that something needs to be done. The Dems are against it so that goes against them. Trump made the country energy independent for the first time ever. Joe Biden, in the first week of being in office did away with that. He even start buying millions of dollars of Russian oil (which, by the way, is some of the dirtiest, most polluting oil in the world) to make up for what he did away with. Trump had a specific, structured plan for our exit from Afghanistan. Joe Biden did nothing with that plan except to claim the due date was there and pull everyone out, leaving behind Americans, Allies, and several billion dollars worth of military equipment to the people that have sworn to destroy us. The Dems fought against opening the economy, screaming about Covid, and pushed for more and more “free money” give-aways. Now the bill is coming due and inflation is at a 40 year high. Every aspect of Biden’s time in office has been a disaster. And people can look back to see that what Trump had in place was working and what Biden has done isn’t. It isn’t a hard decision when you look at it.
The biggest challenge to Trump is other Republicans that might run like DeSantis.
The primary or the actual general election? I agree that Trump against a Democrat, Trump will probably get a very high percentage of the vote, maybe 85–90%. In the primary I don’t think it would be that high, but he might still win.
I completely get the same vibe here as @Blackwater_Park.
If we had another Bill Clinton on the ballot it could be a landslide win for whichever party had him.
@seawulf575 It’s the “Democratic” party not the “Democrat” party.
DeSantis has already declared he plans to stay right where he is.
Trump is still extremely popular, and his rallies prove that.
Missouri must be impressively cold this year. @KNOWITALL is turning blue.
@Patty_Melt I always have been, both sides have admirable values. My family has hardliners on both sides that debated politics since I was born and all were/are very politically active.
For example, our family got a federal budget every year that we went over as a family, regardless who was in office.
In the general election I think 50% would vote for him, 30% wouldn’t vote at all, and 20% would vote for a Democrat over Trump.
@rockfan Pretty much my assessment as well if you’re talking about all Republicans.

I would like to give the RNC some credit for having some brains, although it’s difficult at times. I honestly don’t think they’ll touch trump with a 10 foot pole.
But I honestly didn’t believe heh had a snowballs chance in hell of getting elected in 2016, either.
It was not the “democrat party” that actively worked to overthrow the election, and who called the attempt at violent insurrection on Jan. 6th “legtitimate political discourse.”
