Do you consider waffle fries a french fry?

Or is a French fry shoestring? Or crinkle cut?

They’re unquestionably part of the “French fry family.” I’m not a purist when it comes to French fries and will happily enjoy them all.

I would say YES, because they’re prepared the same way. And they are in the spud family.

Nope. I’ve never seen a sign or menu offer one while delivering the other. And i have definitely been in places which give you the choice of either.

Curly fries matter!

Yes. French fry to me is any potato piece deep fried in oil. Curly, waffle, home style, shoestring, all still come under the heading of French fry in my mind.

Not to be confused with tator tots, which are potato bits formed into a shape and then fried.

No. Waffle fry’s and French fry’s are different. But I’d consider both to be chips.

^^^^ They are only chips in the UK and Ireland. Here in the civilized world they are french fries. (Not capitalized and plural of fry).
