How long have you been on this site for?

About 12 years + 3 months.
About 10 years + 7 months.
It will be 3 more days before my 9 year anniversary!
Almost 12 years with a break of about a year.
In 6 weeks, I’ll be celebrating my 4th anniversary!!!
I think the greatest length posted will be about 14 years.
I think there might be some extant accounts older than that, but I don’t think any of them will post here.
12 years on Thursday. 3/10/10.
Since sometime during 2009 or 2010.
I believe Fluther was launched in 2006, and some of the founding members are still around. That’s an amazing tenure for any internet message board.
12 years, but I’ve taken 2 breaks from active participation that exceeded a year each time.
14 years. I joined in 2008.
13 years and change.
Damn, that’s crazy.
Seems I’m the baby around here—2–½ years
This May will be 14-years.
I have been on for 1year and 1 month. @SEKA you are have been on here for a awhile.
How long have I been on this site? 12 years.
Next month will be 13 years.
Since August 2007. I took about a year off, voluntarily.
In May, it will be 14 years. I knew the founders.
@cookieman, I didn’t know you were in my class!
I joined February 12 2021
Hello penguin! Over here! I’m in your class too!
@chyna and @janbb: Absolutely! Back when we were a Boxer Puppy, Penguin Chick, and a Spoonful of Cookie Dough.
Best cohort ever.
13+ years for me, 14 in November. Does that make me Class of 2008 too?
@raum
“13 years and change.”
You can “50 Cent raum” every March 8th. :)
@Brian1946 You and I are in the same class. We joined just a few days apart. I immigrated from Answerbag.
@Hawaii_Jake
I think most of the Canswerbag migration occurred on December 11. I arrived on the 14th, two days after you.
I think you, @RedDeerGuy1, I, and one other are the only ones left.
That other one is our pioneer YARNLADY, who came here almost 9 months before the rest of us baggers.
Her 13th anniversary will be 2 weeks from today.
@Brian1946 AnswerBag has restarted a couple of years ago, but is a shell of its former self.
@Jeruba yes that makes you the class of 2008!
So no one joined in 2013?
@Mimishu1995
I’m 99% sure that stanleybemanly joined in 2013.
@Brian1946 I wonder what his first question was. My first question was so weird that I sometimes think it looks like a spam question :D
@Mimishu1995 None of your questions look like spam but I noticed a lot of your first few questions you seemed to keep thinking they were stupid.
Also, @Mimishu1995, Fluther was a very active site back then, as you probably know. We had people joining all the time. There must have been many new jellies in 2013. Including you!
@raum
“50 Cent Raum…ha!”
Apparently that gave you a .50 magnitude mirthquake! ;)
@Brian1946 I like that word.
Might have to steal it. :P
Not sure. Long enough to appreciate it.
@KRD Thank you. I appreciate your time here. I’m no longer the baby and have graduated to a toddler! LoL
@MrGrimm888, your profile page says 2016. Were you here with a different username before that?
@raum
“Might have to steal it. :P”
Please feel free to do so. :)
As I recall, I lifted it sometime in the 70’s (probably before you were born).
I think the person who used it before me, is just kicking back in the TV Guide Writers’ Assisted Living Center. ;p
@SergeantQueen yeah… Back then I had lots of people telling me I asked stupid questions. I internalized that a lot and that showed.
@Jeruba yeah I still remember that time. The first thing I noticed was that there were so many people! It was a stack contrast to today.
@Mimishu1995
“Back then I had lots of people telling me I asked stupid questions.”
I looked at your first Fluther question, and the only one implying that it was stupid was you:
”...sorry if my question is too stupid to be answer at all.”
Are you referring to the opinions of people that you encountered, before you joined Fluther?
@Brian1946 Are you referring to the opinions of people that you encountered, before you joined Fluther?
Yes, that’s it. I joined Fluther when I was still in high school. At that point I had had a lot of bad stuff thrown at my self-esteem and I believed that I was nothing. I was already involved in the Internet but no one was telling me that I was worth something, so I joined Fluther simply to ask questions without having someone saying I was stupid it didn’t help that I was called stupid and racist on Y!A so I was scared it would happen here too.
I’m a much healthier person now, thankfully :)
Exactly 6 weeks longer than my PSA results have been below 0.02.ng/mL (I am indeed a lucky guy!).

@Mimishu1995 Thanks… congratulations on your 9th anniversary.
@Jeruba . No previous user name. 2016? Time flies…
That sounds about right… Still here…
I will mention that two weeks after I joined, ragingloli became a member.
This may be a good example of ying/yang.
On and off since April 2009, so almost 13 years exactly. I was 17 years old when I joined.
I found this site when wis.dm shut down.
since 1:40 A M local time. You end your question with a preposition and yet it lives? Adios.
My born on date was December 11, 2008.
About 14 years, 3 months.
Since Mar 25, 2009, so almost 13 years. I think that was around the time Wis.dm was headed downhill.
Since Jan. 2011. I don’t visit often.
I’m not sure, exactly. I know that Mimi and I were neck and neck for a while on lurve, but she was here before me. I don’t think it was very long in between. I had over 7,000 lurve when I left. I came back several months later, maybe a year. I had closed my account, so I couldn’t be Jonesn4burgers anymore. When I heard a patty melt mentioned on TV, I thought that was the perfect resurrection name for me.
People recognized me as a reincarnation, but it hurt me when nobody remembered my original identity until I revealed it.
I remember my first question, because I was nervous about being accepted, and I wanted an ice breaker. I asked, so, who here is funny?
Awwww, shucks.
Who’s cutting onions? Darn it.
Got to have onions for your burgers. :)
Brian1946 is like our site historian.
I was here before you? Really?
I have always thought you were here longer than me :)
Mimi, you were not as active at first. I do remember you frequently calling your questions dumb, so I’m pretty sure I was here not long after you. I felt bad for you, that you felt so uncomfortable. TJBM helped you a lot with relaxing, and feeling at ease. I watched you gain confidence over these years, and you have become quite the tiger, when a situation calls for it.
@Brian1946 wow, I remember that thread! That was epic.
Something Dutchess said in her story inspired a new question for me. I will have it posted in a few minutes.
Approximately 13 years now.
@jca2
No
@KRD
I had a high school teacher who devoted all our classes to learning by writing our own stories and then showcased and presented a few in class everytime.
The students became even more proficient in writing good stories.
So we were Inspired to write..hence my Fluther name.
@Inspired_2write it is not a vitally important matter, but your profile says you joined March 8, 2013. That’s 9 years ago and not 13.
@Hawaii_Jake I was on it earlier than than when using the computer with my son. Annot remember the name that I used then.
However I moved in 2013 and started it again with the present name.
^thanks for the clarification.
Since 2009. Came in on the Great Wis.dm wave.
I was searching up how to deal with friends moving away and found Fluther in case you didn’t know.
What was the Great Wis.dm wave?
Many of us were on another social network called wis.dm. We were very fond of that place. It started dying. One member pointed all of us to Fluther.
In those days Fluther didn’t have the section. Everything was treated like they treat questions in General. NO LAUGHING DAMNIT!! We were a wild and rowdy bunch because there was virtually no moderation on wis.dm.
It took some adjusting.
I came from wis.dm as well. I remember that it essentially had no moderation. Flame wars could go on for days at a time!
I was an Askville refugee. I figured out how to contact Ibstubro by phone, and asked him if he knew where everyone else was going. He told me of Fluther. He cautioned me that it had a nautical theme, in that fluther is what a group of jellyfish are called. Being a Navy veteran, it sounded like I would fit right in. Lol.
@Patty_Melt I’m so glad you had someone to get you here. I stumbled on this site through sheer luck. If that forum thread hadn’t come up in the first result I’m not sure I would have known this site. I was depressed at that time too, having been treated horribly on Y!A.
I joined on a cold snowy day in early 2010 under a different name (blueiiznh) and then took several years off for a much needed sabbatical. I rejoined in 2019.
Oh the places you’ll go!
Is the Wis.dom still around? I don’t think it is if it had no moderation.
No. It’s long gone. It had SOME moderation but not much. Martin just expected us to act like grown ups all by ourselves.
He went on to better things I guess. The whole site glitched worse and worse and then sank.
I cried.
How long were most of you guys on wis.dom for before migrating over?
A number of people came over from AnswerBag when that shut down too. We tamed them and the wis.domers and now they’ve all been Jellies for years!
FB told me that the Jelly that was Ibstubro would have had a birthday today.
We sure needed taming! We were wild, boy. But Wisdm was so much FUN!!
@Brian1946
“About 12 years + 3 months.”
Wrong! It’s been about 14 years, 8 months.
Next week it will be 16 years.
Since either 2009 or 2010. I took a couple of sabbaticals along the way.
@Caravanfan pulled me in in 2009.
I had fleas in the house and my daughter was a baby, only weeks old. I was googling all about fleas – flea life cycle, fleas’ gestation period, how to kill fleas, etc. and Fluther came up on the 2nd or 3rd page. I always said fleas are what brought me to Fluther lol.
4 years last month. I see so many that have come and gone. Hope they’re well and happy.
I’m now in my 16th year here. Longer than any job I’ve ever had.
11th year for me. Can’t believe how much time flies.
It has been 15 years now. I agree, @Mimishu1995, time flies!
