How to tell if a Gofundme page is a fake?

I’ve seen some people point out fake Gofundme pages so I’m kinda curious if there’s a way to know so you don’t donate to someone who doesn’t need money.

As far as I can tell, it’s all a matter of trust(ing the story).
I’m not sure there is a foolproof way. GoFundMe isn’t doing any serious enforcement or vetting – I’m not sure how they could anyway.
When I look at these, I see if passes the smell test. If something pops up that stinks, I move on. It’s a gut feel, nothing more.
I don’t give to GoFundMes unless I know the people. That’s the sure fire test.
I do not participate in online panhandling.
