[NSFW] If you are asexual do you not feel the pleasure of... it?

Asked by erebus9 (179points) March 16th, 2022

I know that asexual means: not involving sexual activity, feelings, or associations; nonsexual. But I want to know if that means they do not feel the pleasure of it.

That is not what asexual means. Asexual means one has little or no sexual attraction to another. An asexual person doesn’t get “turned on” (aroused) by others.

A sexuality is a spectrum, some feel no arousal at all. others only feel an inward arousal resulting in masturbation but no interest in having sex with another person.

If a person gratifies the arousal, then they feel the pleasure of it. But one cannot make a generalization about asexual people other than they don’t have interest in having sex with another person.

Michael Jackson was said to be asexual. He had NO desire for sex with anyone. That’s why his kids were fathered by someone else. That’s also why I found it strange when he was accused of having sex with children!!!

I’m NOT asexual, but I’ve had one friend who is. He still has sexual feelings; however, he NEVER has the desire to release those feelings with another person. He says he just waits for the feeling to go away…or…he will masturbate for relief. IF a female feels this way, she is labeled frigid!!! My friend says he has NEVER watched porn because it doesn’t excite him. A naked woman/man standing front of him is a total “waste of time”.

@erebus9 The pleasure of “it”? Sex? Or celibacy? Not clear.

Not what asexual means, no. Some people self-describe as asexual, and can enjoy sex, but don’t care about it much and can also take it or leave it.

Pleasures of celibacy? That’s something to think about.

Actually, both @erebus9 and @zenvelo are correct in their definitions.

@erebus9 gave a definition directly from the Oxford Dictionary: adj. not involving sexual activity, feelings, or associations; nonsexual.

And @zenvelo gave the description of the noun from the same dictionary: n. a person who has no sexual feelings or desires, or who is not sexually attracted to anyone.

@LadyMarissa. I think Michael Jackson was about as far from being asexual as you can get. Pretty sure he was a pedophile.
