Ice cream! It’s more readily available and it’s great when I’m thirsty :)

Ice cream!! Pudding is fine but ice cream is great.

Although I enjoy pudding, ice cream is my favorite!!!

Ice Cream wins over everything except cookies. At that point its cookies and ice cream.

Blood pudding.

Ice cream, but neither are my favorite. Pudding is handy to make at whim, I usually have a box in my cupboard to cook up. I do use the one that you have to boil, none of the instant stuff.

Ice cream. No contest.

Vegetarians don’t get pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?

We all scream for ice cream.

Pudding. I have never been an ice cream fan, even from when I was a kid. Too cold.

The biggest thrill of our day when I was a kid was when the ice cream truck began to play his little tune!!! To keep us from begging for money for the ice cream truck, Mom kept a ½ gallon of ice cream in the freezer & we’d get our daily scoop as the truck passed our house.

I also enjoy a good bowl of fully cooked pudding. That instant crap almost ruined pudding for me!!!

Magnolia Bakery banana pudding > ice cream > other pudding

Ice cream, but I also love banana pudding with homemade custard and topped with meringue…..still warm from the oven.

I love a good bowl of banana pudding with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream on top—yummy

I had some butterscotch pudding in a restaurant recently and it made me remember the butterscotch My-T-Fine at my aunt’s when I was a kid. We used to make the chocolate one and I liked it either very hot or very chilled.

Very hot is my favorite!!!

Hot chocolate pudding is freaking amazing! Same goes for a nice bowl of cookies and cream or cookie dough ice cream.

I love tapioca pudding and rice pudding and I like ice cream (outside in the summer, I appreciate it more than in the house in the winter), but I wouldn’t like an overabundance of either. I also like egg custard, but again, not all the time.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I just realized I haven’t had custard in half a century!

I actually like pudding frozen, especially bananana.

JLeslie's avatar

Is egg custard the same as flan without the caramel sugar syrup? I don’t remember.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I’m not sure. It isn’t like my grandma’s, but she was a once in a lifetime cook. Everyone wanted her recipes. Every year she blazed two county fairs with her baking, canning, and garden results.

@JLeslie: Egg custard is lighter than flan. Flan is thicker and more dense. Egg custard also tastes eggy. There’s a diner near here that has egg custard in tins. It used to be about 3 dollars for a fairly decent sized tin. Not sure if they still have it. It’s not hard to make, but requires standing over the pot, stirring, just like tapioca.

JLeslie's avatar

@jca2 I remember it on menus when I was a young girl. I’m not a big fan of creamy desserts so it’s not something I would order. When flan is very dense I like it, but still not my first choice. I do make it at home for my husband.

I don’t like crème brûlée or yellow custard in donuts or napoleons, but I do like white cream, which maybe is just icing? I’m not sure. I don’t like cannolis or cheesecake either.
