Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you feel about CODA's big win in three categories?

Including “Best Picture.” To me, this wonderful film about the intersection and conflicting family needs among deaf parents and a hearing child was so exciting. Troy Kotsur is an incredibly vibrant person and actor.
I was hoping for the wins and so delighted that they got them. Hoping it will open more doors for deaf actors in the future.
It’s unfortunate that Apple kept it so closely controlled that it probably hasn’t gotten wide viewership.

I haven’t had the opportunity to see it yet, but I’m happy for them.
This is a real life dad and daughter where dad is deaf and daughter is hearing. It’s only 39 seconds but they’ve done some adorable vids together. The wife says to not feel sorry for them as they have a very special bond that few can even imagine
I was more impressed with DUNE’s big night.
@kritiper Yeah, the cleaned up in all the technical categories but I was really invested in CODA.
There are now a few movies I haven’t seen that I want to watch. Coda is one. West Side Story is another. Licorice Pizza is another. I want to re-watch The Power of the Dog, too.
I hadn’t heard of Coda. Then again I’m an Android baby & don’t keep up with Apple. I’m looking forward to watching West Side Story just to see what they’ve done with it. WSS was the blockbuster of my time & you just “had to” see it!!!
Like you I was absolutely over the moon wit the Oscar wins.
I don’t know any unhearing people but at last barriers for those less fortunate people in the movie industry are being broken down.
May this be the start of something big.
Very deserved. I liked CODA so much, I watched it twice.
My wife is deaf, and we watched the movie and loved it. Her screaming when it won best picture was heard all the way to Wisconsin. (admittedly, I was on a zoom call with someone there at the time)
I was very pleased that it received the kudo’s it deserved. I had recently watched it and was moved by it. I was moved by the scene of the choir concert when the audio was silenced to give people a thought of how it might feel to not be able to hear. Followed by the scene on the back of the pickup where the father put his hands on his daughters throat to feel the song as she sang. Moved even more than Mr. Holland’s Opus which touched the subject manner in a different way of Parents of Deaf children struggles.
I agree that it was not given the same awareness by Apple as Netflix gave to Power of the Dog. Many people had not clue about that movie prior to the much deserved awards. I do hope it helps bring awareness of the subject matter to more people.
