When being threatened with possible violent death by an armed brigand, like a terrorist, russian, or right wing militia-man, would begging for your life make it more likely for you to get killed?
I would think that groveling before the malefactor would certainly enrage him more, and fuel his disdain for you, and push him more towards silencing the shrieking worm before him.

Although difficult to do (I can only assume) it might be more satisfying to call them names, before they shoot you.
You are going to die anyway.
You never know. They say everything is negotiable.
I’ve never been threatened by any of the types you list, but I’ve been physically assaulted more than once. My own choice has always been to fight back with whatever I have. So far, so good.
I sometimes beg for other stuff though, and I’m pretty good at it.
No but it would be better to put ones engery in fighting back or getting the weapon away, especially when you have the odds against you.
Where is Julian Assauge when one needs him to reset the computer to make it fail and or erase the programming.
I never really say what I would or wouldn’t do in hypotheticals because I have no idea how I would act. I suspect if someone plans to kill you, they will.
I feel the same as @janbb about hypotheticals. Sometimes when I’ve just faced a novel situation and had to act, I ask myself what I would have thought I’d do in that situation. The answer seldom matches what I actually did do. These are not usually threatened-by-brigand type situations, though.
The one time that I was robbed at knifepoint, I was so angry that I snatched my purse back out of the guy’s hand and said I’d give him the money, but I was keeping the purse. Couldn’t have predicted that.
I’ve never been in that situation but I would quietly comply with whatever I was being asked to do. The less aware the brigand is of my presence the safer I would feel.
I doubt it would make a difference. If the bad guy has made up his mind that he’s going to kill you, he’ll kill you. Comply with what he says but don’t go with him. If he takes you someplace, he will kill you.
I do not think you can rationalize the actions of a terrorist or person of this nature.

The ONLY time I ever had a gun pulled on me & he threatened to kill me, I smiled & said “PLEASE put me out of my misery!!!” He looked at me like I had lost my mind & responded “you’re not worth it.” Then he put the gun away. ALL he wanted was to hear me beg & that just was NOT going to happen!!!
Probably varies by flavor of pathology.
Not sure. I heard somewhere that doing the opposite and saying, “sure go ahead and shoot me”, increases the chances of being killed.
Is it a right-wing militia beetle?
@raum – Seems like that would only be a concern if you were gonna hang around a maggot-infested corpse.
But hey, the weekend’s wide open.
@JLoon Hang around MAGA-infested corps?
Ermmm…weekend is already booked.
Is that something Russians are known for doing? Seems pretty xenophobic to mention them specifically.
