Have you contacted your brother or sister today?
Today, (April 10) is National Siblings Day in the US & Canada. Any chance you’ve contacted your sibling to simply say…I’m thinking of you???
In Europe Brothers & Sisters Day is May 31. IF you live in Europe, do you plan on sharing that day with your sibling as well???
IF you have one of those relationships that you just can’t get past, this is NOT the discussion to air your complaints about how rotten they are. I’ll do my best to set up another discussion to cover that topic!!!

I talked to my brother this morning. I didn’t know it was siblings day, but all of us got together this week because my brother and his wife just had their first child.
I didn’t know it was siblings day (or about the existence of it), but I did post a photo on Instagram, of me and my two brothers, when we were kids (my kid brother celebrating his first birthday).
I’ve never done something like that before, publicly show a sample of our siblinghood.
The brothers
Yes. I talk to my brother almost every day.
@rebbel That’s sweet!
I spoke with my blood brother and sister, about a month ago.
Mainly because my uncle passed away around that time.
We have an on/off again relationship (long story. )
I talked to my brother and sister-in-law this week but not because of National Siblings Day. I consider all of these Hallmark made-up holidays bogus – except for Mother’s Day, of course.
I talk to my brother most days, and probably have coffee with him later.
I’m going to. Thanks for the reminder.
Certainly, I…um (waitaminute)… I’m an only child. So…no.
My older senior brother talk almost everyday plus regular emails, texts etc
What @janbb said. I believe these holidays are either made up by card companies or by social media to increase posts (dog day, cat day, sibling day, grandparents’ day).
No. But I’m observing National Dog Bite Prevention Week by avoiding bitey dogs.
I’m celebrating National Hug Your Dog Day, infinitely more satisfying than dealing with my estranged sibs.
I didn’t know of it until my brother sent me a message last year. I was shocked to say the least!!! Not because it was NSD but because he actually took the time to send a message!!! I don’t buy & send Hallmark cards anymore. I send texts & emails with attachments. It says the same thing but I don’t have to depend on the unreliable post office to get it delivered on time & I can easily make my own personalized greeting!!!!. According to the article…The US holiday was conceived by Claudia Evart to honor the memory of her brother and sister, who died at early ages. The Siblings Day Foundation was incorporated in 1997 and achieved non-profit status in 1999. Carolyn Maloney, then the U.S. representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, officially saluted the holiday and introduced it into the official Congressional Record of the United States Congress on April 10, 1997; and in subsequent years 2001, 2005 and 2008.
@Brian1946 Yes, your brother wants his weed wacker back. I assured him that you’d be kind enough to return it during the wildlife overpass party. So, pop it in the trunk of your car & say SURPRISE when you 2 get together!!!
@cookieman According t the article, only 20% of the population in the US is sibling free, so I knew I was taking a risk. I found my brother to be a royal PITA, so I also had an imaginary sister who was a LOT MORE fun!!! ;} ;} ;}
Coincidentally, yes. Just now. She sent me pics/vids of my 4 year old great-nephew using the gardening tools I gave him last year, and I thanked her! He was diligently digging a hole to put a seed in. Cuuute! 8)
I’ve never heard of Siblings Day, but I did speak with my sis today. We don’t talk every day; however, we do speak fairly frequently.
@LadyMarissa: I love being an only child, but would have been happy with an older sister too.
Wasn’t on my calendar in my consciousness. My older brother and I don’t communicate much, and I saw his wife post they were on their way to London today anyway. I talked to my sister last Monday after I had seen my mom. For an unknit family like mine, that’s a lot of talking.
@cookieman I love my brother, but would have been happier as an only child!!! ¯\(ツ)/¯
I send my sister a Facebook heart everyday. I’m going to visit her and family this summer. My brother passed away a few years back.
I played a game with my brother yesterday. I consider it a good way to celebrate because he has been busy with school and it’s hard to plan a game time together.
@Brian1946 Yeah. It also coincided with a national holiday :D
@Mimishu1995 Siblings Day is a national holiday in Vietnam?! ;-o
@Brian1946 Well not really. That day was the celebration of the first King in Vietnam. But we use Chinese calendar for that date. So this year it just so happened to coincide with Siblings Day in the US.
I have never heard of Siblings Day before this question.
^^ I had never heard of it either until last year. My grumpy brother sent me a message last year so I did some research determined to return the thought this year!!! :)
@Mimishu1995 I thought it was the celebration of the first kings (plural)?
Talked to my brother last Sat. Does that count?
@cookieman today is your day! It’s National Only Child Day, April 12.
It’s also National Grilled Cheese Day in the US…so, guess what I’m having for diner tonight???
@cookieman Want me to make you one also???
