Can I get Minecraft Java for free if I already have the Bedrock verson?

Recently me and my friends got together online and played Minecraft for the first time scene last year. I found a mod for my friends and I to play. Problem is mods need Java. I think you can get Java for free if you have Bedrock but I’m not sure. If I can please tell me how; if I can’t all well.
