Are there still taboos?

What is your biggest taboo (or, what do you think is the biggest/only taboo in society (your country, or universally))?
Will new taboos present themselves in the future, or will all taboos, once done with, be finished?

There are still strong taboos against incest. Some of them are stronger now than they were 150 years ago. like the taboo against having sex with a cousin.
My half-brother married his first cousin, and they’ve got children together. I guess that taboo might be more of a US thing where it’s even illegal in a lot of states.
The thing I’ve noticed lately is a lot of judgementalism (on social media at least) around the age-gaps of couples, or older men dating women 25 and under.
Pedophilia is still a taboo and I suspect will remain one. Bestiality is another.
Probably depends on where one is from.
In some places it’s taboo for a woman to wear a tank top.
@Kropotkin It’s only legal in Alabama and Arkansas.
Eating yellow snow is still a huge no-no where I come from.
It feels like the taboos of my youth are going by the wayside. Tattoos and body piercings are two. They have become common. Is that a bad thing? Probably not, as they can be later reversed should the owner choose to do so. For now, it’s quite acceptable.
How about any other gender than heterosexual? This is still an issue in some countries. Good grief; gender varieties have been around since humans, so why is this still an issue?
Why would the word “race” exist? Why would it matter what the color of our skin is? Help me to understand this.
@Pied_Pfeiffer I swear I am one of the only people I know with no tattoo’s. Masochists! :)
Are there tabboos? Of course. There are still many cultural norms and tabboos, even if you may be thinking of a modern perspective where there are many different groups and they don’t all agree what they are. Ask any conservative and/or religious people, and they’ll give you quite a list.
Even amongst secular modern Western people, there are some tabboos that are generally agreed upon, if that’s what you’re asking.
For examples in addition to those people already mentioned: cannibalism, feeding humans to animals, unconventional forms of self-mutilation, unauthorized application of violence, sabotage, theft.
My own biggest tabboo is doing anything that would make me think unforgivably badly about myself. I also consider destruction of ecosystems and wildlife, some of the worst and most disturbing things anyone can do.
Am looking forward to taboo 11… The first ten were great movies but
number eleven… taboo with booboo!
@KNOWITALL I don’t have a tattoo either. I asked Mom if I could get one, and she said, “Over my dead body.” She died a few years ago, so I thought the time may be right. My partner said “no”.
@Pied_Pfeffer It’s your body, if you want a tattoo, you should get one—maybe a tribute to your mom? I also don’t have any tattoos, though I do have an idea for a cool one that I’d like to do one day.
@Pied_Pfeffer You mention ‘other genders’ being an issue but really…
nobody cares!!! If they do then fuckem. Live your life!!!
It becomes an issue when groomers push gender issues
on kindergarten kids!
@gorillapaws In all honesty, I’m fine not having a tattoo. What I don’t care for is someone I respect telling me what not to do.
@WhyNow. I don’t know where you live, but one’s gender is still a major issue in many countries…possibly most.
@Pied_Pfeffer In NYC… you completely ignored my post… well done you.
