I paid 5k in cash for a car like four years ago. I’m about to do the same when I sell a motorcycle and then use the cash to buy a boat.
Maybe $2,000? I can’t remember exactly. So rare that I have more than $40 on me, but I was cashing a check and then moving the money to another bank a few blocks away. I had the $2,000 for maybe 20 minutes.
Around $2000. It was rent money for a place I lived in in college. My roommates had given me cache and I was taking it to the bank. I otherwise rarely deal with large amounts of cash.
$8000 for a pickup, I wanted to buy my brand new truck with cash but the dealership said they couldn’t accept anything over $10grand so I had to use a bank draft.
You know why they don’t deal with cash over 10k @SQUEEKY2? In America they have to flag the IRS. It’s part of the war on drugs.
But….I am confused. You were only offering $8000 but they refused it because of the $10,000 rule? 8000 is 2000 less than 10,000, hence my confusion.
2 different vehicles @Dutchess_III the 8grand was a few years ago.
The BrandNew truck was $35,000.
The $8000 was a used truck a few years back.
£800 in the late 1970’s when I lent it to a friend over the weekend so he could buy a car.
17,000 Dutch Guilders, in 87, for a car.
(That would amount to roughly $8,500)
It was a massive amount, perhaps $20K-some when working at a hotel in the Chicago area. This was back in the ‘80s when credit cards were only used by business travelers and debit cards were still questionable. It was a Monday morning and preparing what had been deposited in the safe over the weekend
