What does it mean when a guy uses your name whenever he sees you?
So me and this guy haven’t actually talked. We work together just not in the same department. Out of the blue one day he used my name and I never told him and now he makes it a point to use my name whenever he sees me. I’ve also noticed he stands very close to me at meetings..

What name would you like him to use?
Do you wear name tags at work?
No — then he made a point of finding out what your name was and is interested in you in some capacity.
If he saw you around and asked a coworker, “Hey Marvin, who’s that girl?”, then he likely wants to be friends.
If he saw you around and asked a coworker, “Hey Marvin, who’s THAT girl?”, then he might think you’re attractive and want to get to know you better.
If he saw you around and asked a coworker, “Hey Marvin, who’s that girl?”, and Marvin works in HR so he bribed Marvin to hand over all your personal information so he can stalk you… run.
One way many people remember us is by using our name often in a conversation, or in your case, when they see you. It’s just a little trick to help our memory. Also, like @Pied_Pfeffer mentioned, salespeople do it. Maybe he wants to be friends, or maybe you’re just reading more into it than you should. If he wants to be friends, I would think he would initiate a conversation rather than a simple greeting.
I asked my grandmother she said… You should say to him… we have not been properly
introduced so I am not comfortable with you using my name! Then turn and walk away.
I use my Dr.‘s full name and title when ever I see her. For me it’s about respect.
Okay we use name Tags but mines always hidden and I am never on the sales floor. When I mean using my name I’m talking about the other day I brought out his order he said thanks Chelsea, have a great day Chelsea, whatever he says to me my names on the end.. he’s the only one who does it. There is people from other departments that do not do that. Example today he was staring at me so I asked are you okay. He said I am fine Chelsea with a smile..
Usually, if you want a girl to know that you like her, you say her name a lot.
I guess it’s a possibility. He is out of my league though. I’m just your average women. When we walk past each other he can’t look at me unless it’s at a distance. I’ve tested that theory.
You mean he doesn’t look at your eyes when talking to you up close?
How does he address other staff? How close does he stand to other staff?
He looks around unless I’m at a distance then stares. I’m talking close as in normally people leave enough room between each other for other people to stand. I literally backed into him a few times bc he was that close. When I see him with other people it’s a good size space. Talk to people he usually says yo. What’s up, he is friendly but doesn’t say anyone’s name alot like mine.
Since he’s not trying to literally sell you anything, and you’re in different departments, and he doesn’t do those things with other coworkers, nor other female coworkers, I’d tend to think he’s probably attracted to you and/or may be following some dating/seduction advice he read about somewhere. Or, maybe a lesser chance that he just feels friendly or familial towards you. But I expect it’s some degree of sexual interest but he’s avoiding doing anything that could break workplace harassment rules.
I feel like I’m being watched sometimes but not in a bad way.
How do you feel about these interactions?
It’s fine. I just wish if he has something to say or ask then tell me. Stop walking on egg shells and say it. Be upfront and honest.

someone else’s name? Ever have THAT problem?
