Too many variables.
Depends on the project, the size of the team, the workload per member, who has the expertise, and a dozen other factors.
It also depends, to some degree, if the group came together organically (which is better) or if they were asigned to work together. Organically created groups tend to be more effective.
So the quick answer: It depends.
Those are not the only considerations to how I or other people work.
Working alone should never be about showing your skills and capabilities. It is about getting the task done. Even working alone is part of being a Team. You are doing your part for the bigger picture. Team work as a group is about the collective skills and energy that are needed for certain challenges. It is about stimulating thoughts and generating plans and solutions as a group.
Neither should be for an end goal of “showing your skills” or for “getting the credit you deserve”.
You are looking at the wrong end of the stick in these two scenarios. If that is how a person is working, then they will never find satisfaction in their work or role.
Personally I feel more reward by the accomplishments as part of a team. Solo work can be draining whereas Teamwork is incredibly energizing and rewarding.
I prefer working alone, not for credit, but to get the job done correctly and quickly. It’s about efficiency. Working with others is too complicated and burdensome for me, I have little patience for slackers.
Completely agree with @KNOWITALL. I only choose to be part of a team if either I’m running it or I have a very specific role to play.
I prefer to work alone. I allow employees to do their work without checking every dot. I have high expectations for myself as well as others. It works for me.
As challenging as being a team player might be, it probably suits me better.
If you run your own business, it’s about wearing all hats: production, sales, accounting, law, etc.
I prefer working for a larger company that trains me in what I need to know in order to do my specific job successfully. The company provide a paycheck, benefits, training, coffee, etc.

I prefer to work alone, that’s why I am a truck driver.

In most cases I prefer to be part of a team.
“I think this depends on the situation.
If you are working alone:
a. you are more focused – you put all your mind into it and you don’t have to deal with other’s opinion since you are working on your own.
B. Sometimes, you get things done quickly – since you are your own boss, then you dont have to worry if someone had done their part or not. You are working on your ideas and you know how to do it., so you end up implementing them fast (somethimes).
C. You wont sit arounf waiting for other members to deliver the work.
D. getting all the credit – obviously!. ””
so now, let’s see about the good side of working in a team:
a. Flow of ideas – when you are working on a team ceativity is very unlimited, you have so many brains to have generate as many ideas as you want~ thus, you will come up to a faster ideas.
B. Peer pressure- even if there is pressure among the peers, as long as it is a good pressure, you may find yourself feel challenged and thus, will result to a healthy competition while at the same time achieving your goal as a team
c. Builing new connections – working in a team will enable you to build connections. you are dealing with people who work in the same field and you have the same level of creativity. this can bring you all closer and in any future projects, you might reach each other to work together again.
so that’s about it! :)
