How much more oversaturated is our adoption/foster care system going to be now?
For the states that will take advantage of this? How many children are going to be forced into an abusive and horrible system?

It’s almost as if this isn’t about the lives of children.
Of course it’s not about the lives of children. If it were, we wouldn’t regulate women more than we regulate guns.
But to answer your question, we are about to get an influx of unwanted children at the same time that it is becoming harder to adopt. And that’s just thinking about the unwanted children who will be surrendered to the foster system. Many of them will instead be kept at home to be abused by their bitter and unwilling parents.
That’s the thing about abortion rights: they vastly increase the likelihood that a child—even an unplanned child—is a wanted child. Having the right to terminate an unexpected pregnancy prevents women who choose to carry that pregnancy to term from feeling trapped and instead allows them to commit to being a parent rather than dwelling on their misfortune.
Well, if the woman is dead, she won’t have to dwell on it. Often an abortion is needed to save a woman’s life.

“Why don’t you support abortion?”
“Because I’m pro-life”
Hmmmm
I would like to think if the mothers life is in jeopardy there would be exceptions but knowing Republicans probably not.
Right you are @SQUEEKY2; the USA is headed to the 1840s . . . . GOP is leading the way.
@SQUEEKY2: Because that would be “God’s plan”. ~
Pro Lifers they are the voice for the unborn, once it’s here they could give a shit.
@Tropical_Willie “the USA is headed to the 1840s”
Except abortion was still legal in the US in the 1840s. The Comstock laws weren’t passed until 1873.
Adoption & foster care will go out the door right behind gay rights & trans issues!!! Having sex with your spouse will become illegal IF you deviate in any way from the missionary position. All the privileges that many right wingers feel entitled to will be taken away without a thought because they were privileges that was given to them by the left!!! Living together without benefit of marriage will NOT be tolerated. Medicare & Medicaid will become a thing of the past!!!
South Carolina recently had a local election where the incumbent had held the office for the last 20 years or so lost & he challenged the results & the state rep party nullified all votes until they can investigate further. This is going to become the norm across the country.
Those who voted for these people will be in shock when they discover what rights they “think” they have suddenly disappear without a thought. The reps have been saying that their base is too STUPID to know what’s going on & sadly it appears that they were correct!!!
@Irukandji wait for the blacks are half a person and women can’t vote . . . . . .
I don’t think it will happen. The US will revert back to “behind closed doors” abortions. Hopefully, they will be safer than in the past.
You think unwanted children will end up in orphanages? Nope. They will end up being raised by grandparents.
Unfortunately, Grandparents don’t have the energy to keep up with the energetic youths, so you’ll end up with a lot of adults who weren’t raised with constant observation.
There may be an uptick in some areas, not in others. The Mississippi case was saying no abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Statistically the vast majority (95%) happen before 15 weeks of pregnancy. So there won’t be a huge influx of new babies being born and put up for adoption
One state out of 50 won’t reduce much!!! Georgia gives you 6 weeks which doesn’t give your body time to even know it’s pregnant. Maybe every sexually active young lady in Georgia should move to Mississippi!!!
Or maybe every sexually active young lady in Georgia should start using birth control, make the guys use a condom, and avoid the pregnancy to start with.
Birth control is becoming illegal & as every female knows, guys won’t use a condom & they refuse to take responsibility for that baby when the time comes!!!
@LadyMarissa “guys won’t use a condom & they refuse to take responsibility for that baby when the time comes!!!” That is a paradigm that will have to change. Any guy NOT using a condom in a casual relationship is an idiot. Forget the baby, there are all sorts of STIs out there as well. And nothing stops a woman from demanding he use one. But I suspect many women don’t want him to wear one as much as he doesn’t want to.
Part of the problem with our society is that the dynamic of family is disappearing fast. Even if you have a child out of wedlock and have no plans on ever staying together, the child needs a mother and a father. And that isn’t happening. And part of the reason is the idea that it is not only acceptable but encouraged to have sex with whomever you like whenever you like. And the ease of abortion was a part of that dynamic. The responsibility up front…before the sex ever happens is basically gone.
Sheesh…another male blaming the female!!!
The responsibility up front…before the sex ever happens is basically gone NO it’s NOT!!! I was alive BEFORE having sex with just anybody was OK. Girls got pregnant, they were sent away for 9 months, & suddenly they returned home & their mother had a new baby raised as a sibling…OR…IF you weren’t rich, the girl had the baby & NEVER got to see it before it was whisked away to the adoptive parents. Either they went, the male didn’t have to take responsibility for THEIR half of the equation!!!
My dad raised me telling me that I was going to Hell IF I had sex with anyone I wasn’t married to. At the same time, he was telling my brother that it was his job as a “man” to bed as many girls as he could convince he loved them. Double standard!?!?!?
@LadyMarissa I wish I could give you a million GAs for that.^^^^
@SQUEEKY2 Thank you…you just did!!! When I went on a date, I had to be home by 9;00pm & my brother would come sliding in at 3:00am. When I complained & ask WHY he got 6 extra hours, the response was “He can’t get pregnant”. Of course I responded “But she can”. Dad replied “That’s her daddy’s problem…not mine!!!” That was the prevailing attitude at the time.
Just so everyone knows…. Condoms don’t make you gain weight, don’t make your hormones all weird, condoms don’t interact with certain meds, they also don’t cause internal bleeding sometimes or all the other health risks associated with birth control.
Condoms are so much easier. Birth control sucks and is not for everyone.
Some pills are so touchy- if you miss a day you are fucked and have to wait a full week before you should have sex again. Also, they can make you feel sick.
The Supreme court should be used to up hold the laws, not a political tool.
Lol impartiality is a lie.
@LadyMarissa To start with I was not blaming the female. If you go back and read, I lay it on both parties. There are two people present and participating when a baby is conceived. I don’t excuse either one for lack of responsibility. However, you cannot say the same. And both parties have the right to say no. If a woman doesn’t want unprotected sex, she shouldn’t have it.
As for historical trends of pregnancies, yes there were unwanted or unplanned pregnancies…always have been. But look at your own answer. You pointed out what a taboo it was, how families pushed for no unwed pregnancies. And it did have an impact. Trends show this. Claims that it happened all the time are justification for the moral sewer we are currently living in. When you remove responsibility, when you push for rights without responsibility, you are removing morals.
And yes, your dad did show a double standard. I like to think we have grown some since then. I did not push that double standard on my kids. I taught them responsibility instead.
