Religious activities? Nurturing spiritual needs among the community, and providing fellowship and common purpose are best handled by religion.
When it comes to things like building bridges and structural integrity, I prefer the government’s scientific process to a faith-based approach. Same for education and healthcare.
Feeding the poor, for sure. We have food pantries and food giveaways in almost every city, no questions asked, no ss numbers required.
They also provide free Christmas presents for anyone who signs up, no attendance required. Many non’religious utilize these services as well.
@KNOWITALL Well I consider your post to be a present!
@gorillapaws I agree with you!!! Except for the education part.
And building a stairway to heaven. Just kidding.
@WhyNow Well aren’t you sweet. (Could give me a like, too, though!)
Other than soup kitchens, I find non-religious non profits much better at running food banks and giving kids Christmas presents.
“Toys for Tots” is run by the Marine Cirps Reserve. The only ones that do that a bit better are local fire departments.
Hospie care should be left to trained medical personnel, not to someone who would rather pray over you than give you medicine.
The local rescue ministry has tons of outreach and rehabilitation programs. It’s all funded through donations and thrift stores. Much better than what the state offers to be honest.
