Will Republican states outlaw vasectomies?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33577points) July 1st, 2022

After all, it’s birth control by another name.

Is that going to be another target?

Life actually begins at ejaculation, If we recall back to 2012 political stew in Oklahoma.
Flushing semen down the toilet is no better than flushing a human being down the toilet, one senator argued.

Oklahoma legislators introduced a bill yesterday that says “the life of each human being begins at conception.” But state Sen. Constance Johnson, a Democrat, decided that the bill, SB 1433, didn’t go far enough to protect unborn children.

Johnson added an amendment to the bill, posted online by The Lost Ogle, that says life actually begins at ejaculation: “However, any action in which a man ejaculates or otherwise deposits semen anywhere but in a woman’s vagina shall be interpreted and construed as an action against an unborn child.”

Yup it’s official the majority of Republicans are certifiably nuts.

JLeslie's avatar

I don’t see that happening.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

So… using that logic, if you swallow after a BJ you’re eating babies.

KNOWITALL's avatar

No. In fact vasectomy consultations in my very red state are up 900% per Newsweek.com.

@Blackwater_Park So many counts of cannibalism!

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@KNOWITALL That might say they want it done before the Rep/cons make it illegal.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 Or maybe they are realizing they can take responsibility themselves.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

I think there are a lot of factors driving those numbers up.

Laws that directly inconvenience men are not so popular. Which is why I think the chances of outlawing contraception are incredibly low unless there’s a state that’s run entirely by the Catholic Church that I’m unaware of.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Demosthenes Catholics are far less Pro-Life than the Baptists, trust me. Pope Francis is being very wishy-washy right now.

JLeslie's avatar

I think the a Baptists don’t focus on the spilling seed thing like the Catholics (used to).

Correct me if I’m wrong.

As far as I know the Baptists are ok with IVF to make babies too, which makes no sense from a scientific perspective in my opinion.

JLeslie's avatar

All of my BFF Catholic friends who I mentioned previously would never abort. Never. They are pro-choice though.

I can’t speak for the entire Republican party but if any Democrats want a vasectomy I would support you. Hell probably even donate to the cause. I’m all for improving the Gene Pool.

@Jaxk: “I’m all for improving the Gene Pool.”

Oh I’m sure you are for “improving” gene pool.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@JLeslie Some sects are okay with IVF, the new age megachurches and some that embrace change along with LGBTQ’s. Old school churches like Fundamental Baptists are generally not.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Of course not. My body my choice but that only applies to Repubs. It’s do as we say, not as we do with that bunch.

Demosthenes's avatar

@hat Even though I’m gay, I’m part Hispanic so I’ll do what I can to contribute to the “browning of America”. ;)

LadyMarissa's avatar

NOOOO…that would be offensive to a white male wanting to have sex!!!

SnipSnip's avatar

Why would they?

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

No, but I am scared that they might require vasectomies for those who aren’t rich, smart and married.

Blackberry's avatar

Of course not. Some men just like controlling women.
There were old men on the floor of Congress calling women weak.

They think women are baby factories and they think a man’s job is to spread his seed, which is why you get people that think it’s ok to cheat but women can’t cheat.

Dutchess_III's avatar

They can still have sex and orgasams @LadyMarissa.

LadyMarissa's avatar

The can also get their mistresses pregnant too!!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, not if it’s done right @LadyMarissa. That’s the whole point of a vasectomy

RocketGuy's avatar

Every sperm is sacred!

SQUEEKY2's avatar

After the rape of a 10 year old Ohio girl, and the Republicans that put her and her family through hell I wouldn’t put anything past them at this point.
