Do you remember any errors in the food guide/pyramid?

Like having grease in the top of the pyramid? Or meat proportions equal to fruit’s and vegetables?

I don’t think grease is a food group.

p.s. – but damn! Have you ever had a southern home-made biscuit?! You’ll wish lard was a food group!

@smudges My grandfather would save the bacon grease to put on toast. Was delicious.

Lard biscuits sound delicious

I think now they question if the pyramid had too much starch. I think the pyramid never resonated well with people.

I’ve been saying for years the 4 food groups was a better visual, and now they have gone back to showing a plate, but the groups of food are different than 50 years ago.

I think that the old food pyramid is health for athletes and very physically active people. The problem was not the old pyramid. The problem is that people are generally sedentary. Therefore the food pyramid had to be changed.

I’m very physically active. My food intake is like the old food pyramid. My BMI is 21 (weigh 146 lbs, hight 5’ 11”, age 71). My wife is a dietitian.

Good health!

Not sure what to believe these days.

In the 60s, eggs were good for you. Then in the 70s, eggs were bad for you. Now in 2022, eggs are good for you again.

Remember when margarine was supposed to be a dietary improvement over butter? That lasted about 25 years, and now I read that butter is better for you.

Fish is good for you except it gives some people gout, and you can’t overfish.

Even lowly vegetables have had their ups and downs due to the GMO scaremongers.

It’s hard to know what’s good and what’s bad. So I eat anything I want.

What was the Woody Allen move that took place in the future? – where the surgeon general had decided that smoking was good for you…

@RedDeerGuy1 When my dad was frying eggs, he wanted them sunny-side-up – sort of. He’d use the spatula to cover them with hot bacon grease. :D

Lard makes the biscuits super soft on the inside and a little firm on the outside. mmmmm

They can arrange it into whatever shape they want to as long as the pasta group is the largest…
