I just got back from seeing comedian Mark Normand perform at a comedy club, and he was hilarious.

He’s extremely politically incorrect, but always handles the material in a way where you can tell that he’s not punching down. He asked if there were any immigrants in the audience, and some guy raised his hand and Norman says “I hope that question wasn’t too over the line.” The guy who raised his hand laughed hysterically and took the joke well.
With 5 minutes left of his set, Normand joked around and said “So I’ve made fun of white people, gay people, black people, Immigrants, Jews, Christians, and Muslims, what should I talk about next?”
Some guy screams out “China!” Normand asks “Any Chinese people here?” No one responds. The guy yells back “Of course not!”
Mark Normand quickly jokes “You know, you have a very OxyContin kind of yell. I can be your sponsor.”
This guy got more offended than the other person I mentioned. He continued to yell and then ended up walking out of the show.
If you were at a comedy show do you think you’d get offended easily? Or just roll with it?

I can take a joke well. It’s when someone puts me down as if I’m stupid that offends me. Make fun of my hair, clothes, and even accent but please don’t call me stupid.
I don’t get the last joke. What is oxyContin mean? I don’t get offended easily but I have been to comedy clubs where I felt like leaving. Two things bug me. A comedian who isn’t prepared with joke and makes such lame jokes or one that just punches down all the time. Then what offends me is if I felt I couldn’t saved myself some money or time and had a better time at home.
Once on a cruise ship and another time in a small club, I saw the worst acts. I think the only reason why people laughed was that they were like on the 3rd or 4th drink before he started. Unfortunately both times I was sober. One because I had to drive and the other because it was right after dinner and I was so full.
The best act I ever saw was in Vegas.
OxyContin is an opioid drug
If people can’t take a joke don’t go to comedy shows. Or just keep quiet and don’t interact. Problem solved.
It depends entirely on context. And really, what do you mean by “offended”? I have found that I am sometimes accused of being “offended” if I don’t find something funny.
I get offended by homophobia, bigotry and racism.
What?!! How DARE you ask such a question!
Maybe the OxyContin joke upset the person more than anything. He might have addiction in his own history or family. He might be drugged up on narcotics at the time of the show.
I am not easily offended. This is probably due to years of using humor as a coping mechanism.
Most comedy is making fun of somebody. Not all but most. Men, women, gay, straight, black, white, and so on. If we eliminate any comedy that could possibly offend someone, we have effectively eliminated comedy. That’s not to say you can’t go too far but it takes a lot to offend me. People like Don Rickles made a living by offending people. Personally I think he went too far but my solution to that was simply to not attend any of his shows. If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
If you are going to a comedy show, you should be ready to get roasted by the comedian.
Especially if you think it was a good idea to become a heckler.
And if you tell the comedian to make fun of a group of people you presumably detest, and you are made fun of instead and get offended by it, fuck you.
If you’re easily offended, you probably shouldn’t be at a comedy show.
That said, I find a lot of comedians pretty obnoxious.
