Theoretical question - you're having an affair with the boss. Sometimes in the office, sometimes not. Do you clock in?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) August 21st, 2022

This isn’t real, so no need to preach about illegality and HR and the Department of Labor and sexual harassment laws. For the purpose of this question, they aren’t a factor.

If you’re screwing the boss (gender doesn’t matter) should that be on company time? If you’re doing it at the workplace, would you clock out before beginning and clock back in after? If doing it elsewhere, is this considered work time?

Of course! You want to get paid, don’t you?? How can you get paid if you don’t clock in for your shift??

Of course it could be in rare moments during the work day, not your primary job, so yes, clocked in.
Consider it a legal break. Wink.

Sounds unethical to me. Both then activity and wanting to get paid for it. Just my two cents.

True story; manager for my company was having an affair with his secretary (many years ago).

They rented a room on his company credit card. Both were out on the street the week,
during business hours.

You clock in when you’re messing around on fluther don’t you? Then you should clock in while you’re goofing off with your boss.

Ask the boss.

Of course you clock in and do everything else to enforce the impression of dull routine as usual. I assume you don’t want the news getting out.

If you clock in, expect to have your efforts mentioned in your next evaluation.

You can’t mention ”(you are) screwing (the boss)” and say that gender doesn’t matter.
The screw goes into the hole.

I am totally clocking in for that kind of professional development “meeting”.

I don’t want to get screwed. Well, I do, but not like that.

Circa 1990 I had an affair with my boss. We had a lot of sex after hours, never on the clock.

You clock in when you are supposed to be at work and clock out for lunch and when you leave. Whether you have sex with the boss while being clocked in or not is irrelevant. If it happens on company time sometimes so be it. If it’s on your lunch hour ok too. How long does office sex take? I’m thinking not very long. I’ve never done it, but I imagine it’s almost always a quickie.

kritiper's avatar

The OP made it sound as though this thing was going on during business hours, so any sex after hours doesn’t count.

It might be mandatory overtime!!!
