Nope – but one has to suppose that the curriculum that was taught in that school system supported that knowledge. Ours of today – not so much.

I would absolutely fail. Though I would guess the reverse would also be true. That eighth grade students in 1895 would fail the current tests at the same grade level.

What we prioritize in education has changed quite a bit. And not necessarily for the worse.

Yes. But only if I was taught for the distinct reason that this test was developed for.
Could an 8th grader from 1895 pass a test of today’s subject matter straight out? No.

@Inspired_2write Without a sample “today” test there’s no real way of answering.

Doubtful, but wasn’t it lovely to read through it without catching misspelled words and grammar mistakes. Not a single sentence ended with a preposition.

That test comes from a bygone era when schools did what they were supposed to be doing.

@Inspired_2write I do understand the term Educational Standard.
If we look at today’s education standard for the 8th grade level, then educators are teaching to this and pupils are passing it at the 8th grade and at College/University levels.
This also assumes that you passed the 8th grade standards for your day as well.
