I’ve bitten my lips for a long time and now I’m trying to heal them. I tried not touching them so they would heal and using Vaseline but after two weeks of doing that I saw no difference. What happened is that my lips turned thick and crusty and they became white. Any ideas?

Two weeks might not be long enough to reverse years of damage. Don’t know that it’s true, but I’ve read that Vaseline is NOT good for your lips. You might want to try a really good chapstick that might do better at softening that crust!!!
Your doctor may be the right or best choice. Get medical professional help.
I use burts bees lip balm in the little tin can. There is a stick medicated version but I found for my dry lips the tin can one worked better and felt better. I found this O’keeffe’s products are great for dry skin and apparently they sell lip balm. I’ve never tried it but on this site, it says it takes up to two weeks of application to start to see results. For you, it may be longer.
As others said, this is years of damage so I wouldn’t expect quick results, but I also don’t think vaseline is that great for lips. It always makes my lips swell so I don’t care for it.
Even for lip sunburns, it can take 3 days to 14 days to recover depending on the damage.
Also, I would suggest drinking plenty of water and taking vitamins like C and A and E to help with skin repair.
Of course, I am not a doctor and they may recommend something stronger that will work quicker so it wouldn’t hurt to check with your physician.
Burts Bees is a really good one!!!
I would have suggested Vaseline at night, and using lipstick or something like Bert’s Bees, but if it’s not working you might want to see a dermatologist.
Chanel and Clarins used to have great lip repair products when I worked in cosmetics, but I have no idea if they still do, and they are not cheap! If the doctor gave you a prescription it might be covered by your insurance.
Also, it almost sounds like you are describing scabbing. So use some things the other jellies suggested instead of vaseline, and then wait more.
