Do you feel better when you consume quite a bit of salt?

The last several years I’ve reduced my salt because of my blood pressure, and more recently my kidney function is borderline and supposedly salt is bad for the kidneys too.
I cheated the last few days and had some very salty foods, and I feel better. I feel stronger, more hydrated, I like it.
I wonder if salt really does contribute to high blood pressure and kidney problems. My blood pressure doesn’t seem to react, I’m not sure.

The way I understand it, all that salt will compel you to guzzle and retain water like nobody’s business. Research your condition, and I bet what you read will frighten you away from that salt shaker.
@HP I did read a little. It seems regarding the kidneys the research is inconclusive.
I just posted on Facebook that I’ve been consuming more salt the last few days and my BP has been lower AGAIN and a friend just wrote on the thread she’s been wondering also, because she’s having the same thing happen.
You and your friend might feel good now. But ask yourself seriously if you believe the 2 of you might be the exceptions to the established and universally accepted rule. Are you more thirsty these days than usual?
@HP Like I said, I’ve been trying to read up on research. I’ll be salting up before my next kidney function test. Lol.
Look at the story of Pritikin. He did the opposite of what doctors told him for cardiac disease and he wound up being right. Now, his method is basically the medical establishments recommendations. He looked around the world at communities and countries that didn’t have heart disease while US researchers were totally off base in their studies and doctors were recommending to stay sedentary when you have heart disease and they believed coronary heart disease couldn’t be reversed.
Meanwhile, I’m not assuming I’m right and the medical establishment is wrong, but I am suspicious. Could be an old correlation and not causation.
Ask your doctor. Sounds like you had some sodium deficiency….which can kill you BTW.
^^My level is always normal. I can only think of one time ten years ago it dipped just a tiny tiny bit below normal. My sodium is tested at least twice a year, sometimes more. My electrolytes are one of the few things always in normal range.
@HP I forgot to answer your question. Not more thirsty. I have the opposite problem I feel like I need to force myself to drink fluids. At least with the salt I do get more thirst, but I figure my body is retaining some of that water too with the increased salt.
My last fasting glucose was 84 my last test. It’s always normal.
@Dutchess_III Although, my sodium is often the low side of normal now that I cut sodium. I’m going to eat like my old normal self regarding salt for my next set of tests.
Still eating salty and pressure still better.
I asked about it on Facebook and a few people noticed similar things. They feel better and better blood pressure.
I haven’t tested my kidneys, so that would be really awful if it’s screwing up my kidneys more. I’ll do that soon.
