I admit to not watching a lot of “regular TV” and not following what’s necessarily popular or conventional.

I have loved “Ozark” and “Ted Lasso.” I never heard of “White Lotus” but I started watching it last night and I really like it a lot. It’s only six episodes so it’s quick to get through.

White Lotus was good. I was glad to see the guy who plays the manager get an Emmy.
Succession is excellent.

Now that you’ve provided an article with a list (and reminded me that Emmys are a TV award and not a music award), let’s see . . .

Yes, actually. I quite liked these winners of one or more Emmys:
“Ted Lasso”
“Last Week Tonight With John Oliver”
“Succession”
“Lucy And Desi”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race”
“Love on the Spectrum”
“Queer Eye”

But I liked some of the runners up more. My top shows that were nominated in one way or another, would be:
“Better Call Saul”
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
“Barry”
“Ozark”
“Ted Lasso”
“Severance”

Probably in that order.

There were also some other shows that were about/almost as good, but maybe not eligible somehow (?), such as “Slow Horses” and “The Outlaws”.

“Killing Eve” was pretty good, but I think it’s a notch below the ones above.

And these (that I only watched clips of) are generally worth watching – like John Oliver who won an award, are pretty good perspectives on current events, which are only comedy because the mainstream media’s perspective is so pro-establishment and corporate:
“The Daily Show With Trevor Noah”
“The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”

Enjoyable/interesting but I wouldn’t give them top awards:
“Cheer”
“Making It”
“Shark Tank”

The only one I’ve watched, but only partly enjoyed was “The Voice”, but that’s mainly just because of what it is, and that I’m not into several music genres, and it’s also a bit repetitive etc.

I’ve watched “Only Murders in the Building” and “The Morning Show”, and mostly enjoyed them, but I wouldn’t rate them as highly as the others. Still, anything I don’t hate is probably pretty good, and much less stupid than most TV, because I’m hard to please.

I watched some “Love is Blind” (not sure it was this year or not) and er . . . ya it’s a “reality” show – not sure why it would be nominated for an award! It seemed pretty messed up to me, like they were essentially tormenting people and even though they had counselors, they didn’t seem to be helping them out much.

“Reno 911!: The Hunt For QAnon” I had not heard of. I might have to watch this.

With the wife and mostly because of the wife, we’ve watched quite a few including murders in the building, white lotus and mrs. maisel. There are several others among the bunch that we’ve watched to completion in the last few years. It’s rather amazing the top quality productions avaiable these days. We’re currently beginning season 6 of Peaky Blinders, a British thing several of our friends sprinkled around the U K kept urging on us. It is a fantastic and gripping saga on the rise of an Irish gypsy crime family in Birmingham between the world wars. It is stunning, gripping, beautifully produced and VERY unsettling to watch. Be warned. This is marvelous stuff, but the very opposite of Downton Abbey in mood. The wife can’t go to sleep after watching an episode. We have to close out the evening with some rerun of Doc Martin.

I watched Arcane (excellent), What If (OK), Star Wars Visions (mostly not good), Moon Knight (Ok). I also intend to watch “What we do in the Shadows” at some point. I enjoyed the previous seasons.

Squid Game was great, I was rapt. And Ozark fascinated me as being full of characters so despicable that the only one I liked was the young woman who killed her uncles and her father.

No, I don’t watch much TV. Mostly CBS crime stories, and the three NBC Chicago dramas.

Not really, I’m more in to (some) reality shows, like Wicked Tuna and Deadliest Catch. Haven’t had much interest in dramas since The Sopranos went off the air. And I still don’t know if Tony was hit, or if that was just artsy smartsy stuff the way it ended.

Squid Game was probably my favorite among the winning shows that I saw.
Get Back was great as well, but I missed things that were edited out.

I loved the first half of Squid Game but the show kind of falls apart in the last episode.

I just finished Ozark the night before the awards show where Julia Garner won her third Emmy for her character, Ruth Langmore. I don’t watch award shows but I did hear the news of her winning and it was much deserved. She is an amazing actress and her character on the show is my favorite tv character of all time. That’s how good she is imo.

@zenvelo Wendy ordered the hit on Cade, Ruth’s father. Ruth didn’t have anything to do with that death.

I knew I should have avoided this question because of spoilers….

My fault though

Haven’t watched these Emmy winning shows except Oliver’s once in a while and in Youtube. If any of them is a murder-mystery series I would be interested in watching it.

Not even ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING?

mazingerz88's avatar

^^I’d like to think that I am a fan of Martin and Short since I enjoyed their films in the 80s and possibly 90s as well but after watching the first episode of OMITB it just didn’t click.

Could be that lately I find dark murder mysteries like Wisting and Crimson Rivers more engaging.

Have any of you checked out The Gilded Age yet?

@Jonsblond:: Gilded Age stars Christine Baranski, who you’ll recognize from the movie Mamma Mia:
