I know they keep a tally of answers on each, but I am thinking each answer has a number as it’s posted.
What is your opinion ?

It does. On your web address bar. Each question and answer has its own number at the end of the URL.
This question is 233446. You need a PC desktop computer to read the permalink to each answer.
The permalink is the symbol at the end of an answer. Just click on it and it should tell you it’s number.
As for further numbered answers I am for it
Are you talking ??
1)
2)
3)
4)
A) Sometimes it is annoying and unnecessary
2) Sometimes it highlights the reasoning of a point
D) Sometimes it just copies a stupid Ferris Bueller reference.
I frankly can see no reason for it.
There might have been a time or two in my fourteen years when I’d have used that feature, particularly when responding in long threads to someone’s specific post.
But since there’s no further development coming, it’s just a hypothetical question.
As @RedDeerGuy1 points out, though, you can use the hyperlink to cite a particular post.
@filmfann You meant Home Alone. At this point you’re just embarrassing yourself.
@SQUEEKY2 Just clarifying…do you mean each person’s answer? Like John’s is #1, Mary’s is #2, Bobby Sherman’s is #3, etc?
Or do you mean that one individual’s answers has several points they’d like to make which they could number?
The first one @smudges and it was just a suggestion .
@SQUEEKY2 Ok, that’s what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.
I think it isn’t done, so as to not give the impression that this is a “best” answer first website. A lot of the other sites elevate the highest rated answer. Marking an answer #1 and #2 would seem Iike a ranking.
