Melancholy. Dark. Creepy. Could only watch less than one minute of it.

Extravagant and expensive imagery, the thing is a string of cliches stitched together by some film buff clearly in love with the classics. The one plus to the disjointed flashes is in that you are distracted from the truly forgettable music while you speculate on the money dumped into the thing’s production. I was much more interested in the clip of death cab for cutie which popped up following the Hitchcock tribute. For in that one, the lead singer held a carbon copy (which he neglected to play) of the Gibson j 45 that my grandson is hoping I forgot that I had lent him.

Creepy and the spiders “eek” I found this to be depressing. I couldn’t believe the comments, was I watching the wrong video? and I don’t care for B&W.

I like the music but couldn’t really understand the words. The video itself didn’t hold my attention at all. I turned the volume back up on the ballgame and turned off the video.

I didn’t expect to watch it right through but I did. I like the music but I’m not so sure about the video. There were some nice scenes but the video was more nightmare than fantasy.

@gondwanalon I see your minute and raise 30 seconds.

I like it.

I kind of liked it too. I didn’t like how sexual it was….because my 19 year old granddaughter starred in it. :( :( :(

Here is some of the cast.
My granddaughter is on the far right.

She’s very pretty!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Thank you. She models.

Little to artsy for me. From about midway thru until the end. Started out like of those old Vincent Price horror flicks like they used to have at the drive ins back in the day. I guess that creepy spider and the scissors thing. Half expecting some one to get bitten or stabbed. Don’t get the point of the music or the back and forth between the two dudes. But I don’t know squat about about cinema anyways.

Spiders? What spiders?

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

@Dutchess_III There was a big ass spider at the start, along with the creepy crows and the spooky house and scissor woman. All very Vincent Priceish. Like Fall of the House of Usher or Masque of the Red Death. Cool but weird.

I don’t dislike it. But I see beautiful young people being sultry, basically just singling about fantasy in a somewhat Gothic atmosphere. The part I liked best was the glimpse of bear party in the beginning, and it being echoed by the bear head later.

But, in comparison to the Gothic music from the 1980s that I’m familiar with, that the atmosphere of this video reminds me of, this is really tame and strikes me as fantasizing horny pretty young people using a bit of Gothic style, but without Gothic content or music. I’ll stick with the likes of Bauhaus, Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, even Siouxsie and the Banshees.

@RayaHope it was creepy but in a very creative way. You’re to young to remember those kinda films I mentioned but they did a great job of invoking that Vincent Price horror movie atmosphere. If they had a CGI Vincent Price walk in wearing a Dracula cape, I’d have crapped my drawers and been outta that spook fest.

I liked the song, and your grandaughter is lovely.

@Nomore_Tantrums All I know is that the video was creepy with all the weird images and spooky stuff. I’m surprised that @Dutchess_III didn’t notice that big ugly spider in the beginning. I think it was even decomposing. ewww

Dutchess_III's avatar

I didn’t notice. I was probably focused on glimpsing my granddaughter.
I’ll go.look again.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I looked. All I saw was an orb weaver who was very much alive. I like orb weavers.

chyna's avatar

^Then come get mine!

Dutchess_III's avatar

LOL!!! Move!

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Bite you done dead!

HP's avatar

I’m just grateful there are no longer spiders the size of cats.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Orb spiders won’t hurt you @Nomore_Tantrums!

When were there spiders the size of cats @HP???

HP's avatar

Long before you and I. Remember the discussion here on the size of the bugs when atmospheric oxygen content was perhaps twice to three times present levels? It was one of the factors allowing dinosaurs to achieve those monster proportions. And by the way, the crocs of the day could also be monstrous. And the wildfires must have been a bitch.

WhyNow's avatar

That same atmospheric oxygen content thing is what gives HP such a big
head! I mean that in a good way.

HP's avatar

Nice one. You get a G A Such little head people as yourself sometimes surprise me. And while you’re at it grasshopper, which is preferable, a big head or one that is empty? Then ruminate on which you possess.

WhyNow's avatar

^ I may have a little head but I have great hair!!! Oh yeah, hi fives!

HP's avatar

Agreed. that’s what counts. No pondering required.
