Is it normal in Korea for adult parents to physically hit their adult kids when upset with them?

In a few K-Dramas, I noticed the parents slapping their adult kids repeatedly when they get upset with them. As a westerner I find this strange, but as I have seen it a few times in K-dramas, I am starting to think it might be normal there?
