What would be your “dream” movie to get made?

Asked by rockfan (14632points) October 31st, 2022 from iPhone

Basically any movie that you’ve always wanted to see, an adaptation of a certain book, actors you’d like to see work together, etc. This question is inspired by mazingerz88 answer to my question about horror movies:

For me, I would be absolutely thrilled to see the Coen brothers direct an adaptation of “A Confederacy of Dunces”. I’m shocked it’s never been made into a film, the book almost reads like a screenplay for a dark comedy.

I’d also love to see Guillermo del Toro direct a mini-series of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories.

How about you?

A filming of “Beau Ideal”, an old PC Wren Foreign Legion novel. Complete with more plot twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. Ends on his dad’s ranch in Montana where the protagonist saves the day for his buds and their girlfriends in a western type showdown. Last line of the novel: I walked out to the corral, saddled my horse, and rode away. Complete with Arab uprisings in the Sahara, a sheik and a woman who is infatuated with him, and our hero, a cowboy / Legionaire.

It was just made. Dune.

But unrealized projects? A remake of Logan’s Run that is actually true to the book.

Any Pat Conroy novel.

The Dark Tower. And no, the 2017 Idris Elba film doesn’t count. Though I’d rather it be done as a high budget tv series like Game of Thrones.

- Fraidy Cat. I wish they had gone through with it, or at least transferred it to another company that would do it. It would be a really unconventional movie that distinguished itself from the bland cookie-cutter Disney movies we are used to.
– A movie adaptation of the Joshua Spooner and Bathsheba Ruggles incident. Scroll until you see the names and read the story, it’s so wild that it could make a great historical thriller. Someone like Stanley Kubrick or Alfred Hitchcock could easily do it.

Drizzt do’urden novels from Forgotten Realms, and the Cleric quintet also from Forgotten Realms.
R.A. Salvatore has enough books to make a series from.

“On a Pale Horse” by Piers Anthony

In this first novel of the Incarnations of Immortality, Piers Anthony combines a gripping story of romance and conflicting loyalties with a deeply moving examination of the meaning of life and death. This is a novel that will long linger in the reader’s mind.
