Did anyone else delete Twitter the moment that Musk bought it?

I’ve never liked Twitter, but used it in my marketing work (no offense, Fluther founders). I always thought it seemed to bring out the worst of the worst, and that’s saying a lot for social media. But I despise Musk, and I feel certain that the hate speech and sewage will worsen under his ownership. So, bye bye Twitter.

Never used it anyway. I don’t feel that the fate of the Cosmos hinges on my random thoughts and opinions.
I had an account for church for a while but never used it and would definitely go off it now if I were still on.
I have an account I rarely use.
Are people deleting their accounts?
Will it make a difference?
I never liked Twitter. I don’t post to it. The only time I go to it is when other forms of media (blogs, news, etc) link to it.
But I don’t get the outrage over Musk buying it. Whether you like the guy or not, his big threat is that he plans to do less censoring. This does not strike me as a big deal. Between the threat of hate speech and infringing on free speech, I think the latter is the far bigger problem.
But I still won’t use Twitter.
Happy to say I was never on it.
Whatever it was, it won’t be that anymore. With any luck, it’ll just be run into the ground at record speed.
I’ve never liked Twitter and have never signed up. If I had $44 billion in loose change I can think of better ways to spend it than buying Twitter and calling myself “Chief twit”.
I’ve never used it, but if I did have an account, I would definitely delete it. Musk is a bully.
I started a Twitter account many years ago. I found it boring and soon just stopped using it.
I have no new interest in Twitter with Musk in charge of it.
Never had an account, never looked at Twitter unless someone posted a link to a tweet, which was rarely.
The problem with hate speech and fake news is that it becomes a rabbit hole, and many people won’t take it as hate speech and fake news, they’ll take it as gospel.
Nah, I will just enjoy the fireworks.
We are the phase of the party, where the drunk host shits his pants and pisses all over the floor, stumbling into the table with the candles, and setting the curtains on fire.
Musk is raging that advertisers are leaving the platform, and threatens them with going “thermonuclear” by publically “shaming” them.
Critics are getting shadowbanned by clandestinely having essential features deactivated.
Some are getting outright banned for satire critical of the Muskrat. Like changing your screen name to Elon Musk and posting a tweet about how much you enjoy drinking a cup of your own steaming hot urine in the morning.
Because that is what “free speech” means to the Muskrat: “Me and my buddies can say any vile shit we want, but anyone against us, oh you are gonna regret crossing me!”
Why does everyone seem to hate Elon Musk so much? Sure, he has done some off the cuff things like call that rescuer a pedo and some questionable things like manipulate the crypto market a little. Nobody is perfect. He has also done things like force the auto makers to admit that electric cars are a thing and begin to participate in the transition. He has rebooted the space industry, large-scale battery storage etc, etc. I don’t use Twitter, I think it’s silly and I don’t get why he would even want it. I’m sure he has a good reason though.
I have an account that I use maybe once a year. Since Musk took the helm. the hate speech has increased. The use of the N-word supposedly has increased by 500%. I haven’t deleted Twitter as yet because I want to see firsthand what Musk is doing to it because I don’t trust the MSM to tell me the truth!!! I had been considering leaving already. I don’t have any fondness for Musk, so I really don’t anticipate hanging around for long.
During the Depp/Heard trial, it was leaked that Musk is as kinky as Epstein ever had time to be. I can’t prove nor disprove those allegations; so, that’s another thing I’m watching carefully. The more I watch him, the LESS I like him; so, I’m NOT ruling out going!!!
I use my account so little that it’s always been free. I’m expecting a mandatory change in any free accounts & I WILL most definitely delete once he insists on charging!!!
I deleted Twitter about five minutes after I created an account and saw how mind-numbingly horrible it was.
Here’s the thing: Twitter doesn’t actually matter. That goes both for those who think Musk is somehow ruining something important and those who think Musk is saving humanity with his “free speech absolutism” (lol).
I don’t think Musk actually thought he’d be forced to buy it; the offer was a troll move. But Twitter is a bloated tech company and I’m glad to see him thin out its ranks. Maybe it will finally lose some of its inflated importance.
Not joining Twitter, buying popcorn.
I had a twitter account for many years. I added it when you could set up an app to scroll tweets without having to refresh or click, and I use to follow news about work on it. But that applied about ten years ago. And then I would check twitter only occasionally, sometimes not for weeks at at time.
I deactivated my account last week, after seeing how much worse it had gotten since Musk took it over. I would now call it dangerous to democracy and public safety world wide.
