ChatGPT says the following:

“Imoen’s belt is a cursed belt that was given to her by her former captor, the wizard Irenicus. The belt is enchanted with a spell that prevents Imoen from using any of her magical abilities, effectively crippling her and making her vulnerable to attacks.

The significance of Imoen’s belt is that it represents the control that Irenicus has over her, as well as the extent of the damage he has done to her both physically and mentally. It also serves as a reminder of the events of the first game, where Imoen was captured and tortured by Irenicus, and serves as a plot point in the second game as the protagonist must help Imoen break the curse on her belt and regain her magical abilities.”
