Not particularly. It’s a gender-ambiguous name for one thing. If all you have is a name in a database that says Jade, you’ve no idea if you’re calling a man or a woman.

I knew a guy whose name was Jade. Nice guy. Never asked him how he liked his name…but it always felt awkward to say. It was like I wanted to call him Jay…but there was this extra consonant on the end that wanted to join the party.

Overused but pretty.

It is okay, but wouldn’t change my name to Jade

I have a friend (male) named Jad. It is the first letters of his first name and two middle names.

After the definition as an ornamental stone come these:

jade

noun
1. a worn-out, broken-down, worthless, or vicious horse.
2. a disreputable or ill-tempered woman.

verb (used with or without object), jad·ed, jad·ing.
to make or become dull, worn-out, or weary, as from overwork or overuse.

You can still run into used in this sense, in older writing especially.

I only knew one Jade, and she was a doped out, absolute liability. This makes me biased, I know, but no, I don’t care for the name. Call me jaded..

While jade is one of my favourite words with lovely connotations of tactile smoothness and hardness it is one of my least favourite personal names.

I like it. Reminds me of a pale green color and a oriental girl.

A friend has a cat named Jade. It sounds like a good cat name.

I do not. It brings the meaning of jaded to me which is not complimentary.
