If I want to text on my laptop, what's the best way?

Asked by JLeslie (65719points) December 28th, 2022

I have an apple phone and an HP laptop if that matters. Do I need to download an app? Can I just log into my apple account? My phone number is with T-mobile.

Thanks!

There is a Microsoft app that allows you to connect any cell phone to a PC. I’m sorry, but I don’t know the name of the app. Perhaps someone else will come along who knows.

A long time ago, you used to be able to go to a Verizon site and text from there. That’s when I had Verizon. Did you try googling T Mobile send a text or something like that?

Connect Phone To Computer. It’s 2 years old but it should still work or at least get you close enough that you can figure it out from there. @Hawaii_Jake is correct & I don’t remember the name of the app either. When I set up my laptop, it asked me if I wanted to connect my phone to my computer. It said that if I didn’t want to do it then that I could go in later & do it. I don’t like the idea of having my phone & my computer telling on me at he same time, so I never set it up.

My brother is a Mac baby & I know he does it all the time, but I don’t know how his is set up & I’m pretty sure that IF I asked him that he’d say his computer geek friend set it up for him.

The app is simply called Your Phone, and it’s available in the Microsoft app store on your PC.

If I remember correctly the windows phone app doesn’t work with iPhone, only android.

If you do use WhatsApp for texting there’s a online free WebApp and an app that you can download. If you’re referring to iMessages, you won’t be able to as Windows does not support it. There are ways around it but it’s just a hassle that would require you to have a MacBook on at all times. @JLeslie
