Should TikTok be banned?

Of course not. And banning is stupid. If students want to go on it, they can just turn off the wifi on their phones.

I don’t think TikTok should be banned. It can be a fun site and you just have to use it right. Texas wants to ban everything it don’t like. I say lets ban Texas. lol

It’s banned in my household, and I have every right in doing so. Private citizen.

It should absolutely be banned on government and company provided computers in research facilities.
It is capable of doing too many nefarious things while the casual user is mindlessly scrolling.

Yes it should be banned by anyone with direct or indirect governmental contact. Run by the Chinese government.

We can’t have a “smart speaker” in the house, because my wife works for a company that is a US Government contractor.

It’s not just U of T, by the way. The governor of Texas directed all government-affiliated institutions to block it. Other universities across the country are doing so as well.

I don’t believe in banning things. I don’t use Tik Tok; but, if you want to use it, I don’t care. I feel the Chinese government spying on us through it is bogus. They have a thousand other more effective ways to spy on us when they really want to know something. They’ve been spying on us for over 50 years & Tik Tok did even exist back then!!! I’ve seen numerous reports of many pedophiles stalking kids on Tik Tok. Rather than ban the platform, I say block the kids from using it for their own safety!!! Anyway, Texas would ban breathing if they could just figure out how!!!

I figure no one should be on those sites while they are working and using company equipment. Do your job!

Some people were afraid of switching from checks to debit cards, or banking online. I see this fear as silly personally. What possibly could China find while I watch Tiktok videos?

I saw a great documentary about how nefarious Tik Tok is. I believe it was called “Tik Tok Boom.” It explains a lot about China and what it’s believed they’re doing with the data they’re compiling.

YES! It is horrible, I wish they would stop trying to make me sign up for this crap on my phone. I keep getting these pop-ups. China wants to steal your info to use for who knows what. Say NO to Tik Tok!
