I have Windows Vista and IE. I got a Service Pack today and now the battery indicator on my laptop is gone. I can’t figure out how to get it back. Please help
(...And don’t waste space telling me to get a Mac, Firefox, blah, blah, blah). Just help. Please.

Is there that little arrow next to your taskbar? Have you clicked it to see if it’s hidden?
If that isn’t the answer, right click your start menu, and select Properties. Go to the Notifications Tab. There’s a option there for Power, select it, and that should be that.
It will not “allow” me to select the power option. Grrrrrr….
(It is not hidden via the arrrow either….)
Any other thoughts?
Is your laptop plugged into the external power supply? My battery icon is not visible when plugged in.
When the icon is visible, I can right-click on it, select Adjust Power Properties > Advanced tab > check the box for “Always show icon on the taskbar”.
When I unplug my laptop, the option to show the power still is grayed out and not clickable. Is there another way I might get it to show again? The battery meter used to show full time, even when plugged in, and then about a week ago it just disappeared.
Many thanks for your help.
From another site, I found the following solution to work. Kill explorer.exe and restart it. Then right click on the explorer bar and now the power icon should be clickable.
1.Go to Control panel by Start menu> Control Panel.
2.Choose power option from there & open it.
3.You will see power option properties window on your laptop screen.Go to advanced option from the menu.
4.You will see the option with checkbox saying that always show icon on the taskbar.Check the box and click on the apply button & then OK.You have done.
