Can a drug sniffing dog get a high from locating cocaine?
Just wondering.

Nope. They’re not inhaling any cocaine. They’re just locating the scent. Snorting up the cocaine would, I guess, theoretically be possible for a dog. But they’re pretty smart animals and probably wouldn’t think to do anything that weird.
Some people believe that drug-detecting dogs are made to be addicted to the substances. Fortunately, that’s not at all true. The dogs are usually trained with toys. There are plastic tubes created for this purpose. They’re hollow, to be filled with the substance of choice. Because they’re tightly closed, the dogs never interact with the drug itself. They just learn to recognize its scent because that’s what their favourite toy smells like.
I would think that they could, but ONLY IF they actually sniff the product up their snout. Most drug sniffing dogs don’t get that close to an open package of the powder. The product is normally sealed in such a way as to NOT lose any & stored in a safe container. The dog picks up the scent of the product without actually ever coming into contact with it up close & personal, so it is UNLIKELY that they will get an actual high from it!!!
It’s NOT like the Cocaine Bear situation where the bear actually ingested the product & died!!!
If there was any loose powder they could. But not if it was in a sealed unbroken container.
If they sniff to much. Animals can get affected just like humans if they get to much.
