If they murdered me I suppose I would never talk to them again.
I will always talk to my children.
I can’t imagine NEVER talking to my child again!!! Murder is the ONLY thing that might come between us, but I’d still talk to them although they might NOT care for what my opinion is at that point in time!!!
Even if convicted of a serious crime, I would not stop talking to my daughter.
If she did something like commit violence agianst me, I’d be upset, of course, but would be willing to talk it out and get past it if circumstances allowed it.
Unauthorized laryngectomy. ;)
I’m sure there’s something, but hope never to find out what that is.
I’m going to wax philosophical here. I don’t have any kids by the way, except for my cats. And I still speak to them even when they’ve thrown up on my bed or dug their claws into me by accident.
Anyway, there should be a follow-up question to this, especially seeing how the general consensus seems to be that people would never stop speaking to their kids. So, how many people have stopped speaking to family members, kids are otherwise, because they’re on the other side of the political fence?
I can’t picture one that would make me never talk to them again. I guess something like raping my wife. The harder question would be “what would it take to make you never talk to your children again”. That isn’t just crimes at that point. I had an issue with my father…he had long term mental issues. That wears you down. When I got married and started having children he wanted to be in their lives. We had him over for dinner and he was so out of touch I finally had to cut ties with him for about 7 years.
Theft of a box of cookies from my pantry.
I don’t have kids so I can’t really answer this, but I did see an interview with Jeffrey Dahmer after he had been convicted of murder and cannibalism. His dad was in the interview with him, although the dad did seem uncomfortable and leaned away from Jeffrey. But he still spoke with him and visited him in jail. So even murder and cannibalism didn’t keep him from talking to his son.
No kids here either but any sort of child sexual abuse, rape, murder or animal/elderly abuse and I’m out, family or not.
@LifeQuestioner I’ve only had issues with people here over politics. IRL it’s not a dealbreaker as my family is split between parties and always has been very politically active.
Plus people aren’t as salty face to face!
If the crime was really stupendously bad I would still talk to my children even if only to ask why.
Hi @Dig_Dug. Glad you made it on the same day that I did!!! ;-)
