How intelligent does one have to be to figure out the solution at first try?

My son in law just takes a quick look at a cube, the starts adjusting it incredibly fast, without looking, and solves it in under 30 seconds. It’s insane to watch.
^^Wow. Would less insightful folks be able to solve it if it was transparent and inner workings can be seen? I wonder.
Drop it in the nearest trash can.
Wait till @filmfann son in law is done and grab it out of his hand. See done! :)
Poorly. I have never solved one.
At some point, you have to memorize 12 and 15 move sequences to move certain colors aroung. I can get one swivel just using logic and reasoning on the spot, (meaning one face, and the correct row of 3 adjacent to that face). But then after that, to move colors around without ruining the progress you’ve made, you just have to memorize. And I’m not willing to.
Alternative answer – there’s an app for that.
I usually just peel off the edges and put it back again all done perfect.
Give it to an AI to sort out.
I’ve done it watching a YouTube video. But would love to know more about the theory of it. I’m just doing it mechanically at this point.
There is a formula you can memorize. Machines have been made that can do it. Does not take much grey matter.
If you solve one enough times it b we comes almost like an instinct.
@RedDeerGuy1 if you do that, eventually the stickers won’t stay on. But I discovered when I was a kid that you can use a knife to carefully pop the pieces off and then reassemble them where you want.
Also, does anybody remember the 4×4x4 Rubik’s cube? I think it was called Rubik’s revenge and I have one when I was a kid. I had even less success with that one!
@Caravanfan – I created my own algorithms back in ~1980 to solve one in 60 sec or less. But alas, I have forgotten the most important algorithm so will need some time to figure it out again.
