Why do hunters choose male animals to hunt?
Like elk and deer?
Just wondering.

Because the females will bear offspring creating more animals.
Also females do not grow antlers, which are often displayed. (Although my friends who are deer and elk hunters just harvest the meat—they don’t display the antlers)
Actually, there is a doe season. It’s not as long as regular deer season. Sometimes they need to cull the herds and will let doe season last longer. But, generally, it’s as @Caravanfan said.
The female has the babies thereby growing the herd so there are more to shoot next year. The meat of a male tastes better than a female. Having a 10-point antler on your wall impresses your friends because it indicates you’re a REAL MAN!!! Female deer do grow antlers; however, they are considered sissy antlers & NOT very impressive. Some states are now allowing the harvest of the females in order to give the males a better chance of growing bigger & better antlers. I’m pretty sure that Missouri is one of those states & I think that Oklahoma may be another.
1. Males are more aggressive and cause more vehicle accidents and death’s. And yes, the herd replaces males more efficiently.
2. Males are bigger and thus provide more sustenance for food hunters.
Only certain counties in Missouri, yes. Our conservation dept is stellar.
Basically what they said.^^^^^
Yes there is a doe season, Hunters must obey regulations when it comes to hunting size, and numbers you can’t just shoot as many as you want because it’s hunting season.
I think they are just jealous. I mean, look at those nice long horns and stuff!
The state Fish and Game department decides what sex of animal you can shoot. A smart hunter would much rather shoot a female because of the better quality/tenderness of meat.
Government chooses, generally.
