Just curious. Recently read a trippy book called The Raft where is switched from first to third a few times, and even for several pages in the second person. Yes, YOU were a character for a bit. Trippy.

3rd Person. 1st Person always feels like a self insert of the author. And no, it does not make me feel like I am suddenly the protagonist.
I don’t have a preference. As long as the book is written well and the tense does not intrude into the story. Some great works were written in first person; a novel in first person lends a bit of grounding in reality.
“Shoeless Joe”, the novel the movie “Field Of Dreams” was based on, uses a narrative, which causes the reader to feel it is currently happening.
3rd person. Because I’m not a psychopath.
Depends on the book and the story. Both are fine. Action/adventure or horror are often in the 1st person.
I’ve definitely read lot’s of books where it’s switched from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I liked it, I guess. Although I was aware of it, I suppose I never thought too much about it.
Depends on the skill of the writer. It’s probably easier to write in third person than first person without coming off as kind of hokey.
I prefer books that are written very well and entertainingly.
I’ve read books that were well-written and entertaining, some written in the first person. I’ve even enjoyed some as you describe, written as “you go to the store” (etc), which is the second person present tense. So no, I don’t have a preference per se.
But most fiction is written in the third person.
