I would like to find something that is legitimate, doesn’t require an initial investment, and pays decent. Is that wishful thinking?

What is your skill set? Or ideal type of job.
Phones, data entry, consulting, programming, etc…
Two ideas:
Medical transcription.
The second….I read about it in Business Week. And of course I cannot find the reference right now….Basically, companies can route calls to 800# to your home for you to deal w/. So you are like a cubical in a call center. Only remotely in your home. The trick is…..your home must be set up so that it is absolutely quiet. No screaming kids. No barking dogs. I don’t want to quote what companies do this, as I cannot recall for sure…...but I remember it was big, mainstream companies that I recognized.
I know someone who does the medical transcribing from home. Works very well for her. But you do have to have training to do that. I think it is a six month course or something like that.
Outpatient Brain Surgeon. And it pays well!
If you have decent keyboarding skills and are a good speller, then medical transcription could work well for you. This site for single parents lists several other options.
Good luck.
Thanks for you advice everyone. Unfortunately, Dee doesn’t have the money to take a medical transcription course. An outpatient brain surgeon….. Are you volunteering to be my first patient?
Dee can answer phones, type, file, as well as data entry.
@Devil, you know I would if I could, but I’ve already had them removed (I think).
Which brain are we talking about, my dear?
“Which” brain? On second thought, maybe you SHOULDN’T be a brain surgeon after all.
Thank you, nancoala. I will take a look right now.
Why don’t you take a job matching people with real stay-at-home jobs? There must be a market for it!
That would be a good idea. I’m not kidding on that. I wonder how I can start that. I can’t be the only one looking for something like that.
At least you could have given me a “great answer”!
I’m working on it. My brain isn’t working very fast these days.
My apologies!! Please forgive this crazy person.
Which brain are we talking about, my dear?
I don’t have a brain, so I guess we’re talking about yours.
