Have you heard that Fox News has gotten rid of Tucker Carlson?

Asked by LostInParadise (32184points) April 24th, 2023

Link Carlson was certainly well known and liked by Fox News devotees. Is he being punished for saying behind closed doors that there was no election fraud? Or is Fox afraid that those remarks may cost them viewers?

Yes, this is the normal punishment for not towing the company line. Plus it sounds a bit like they had Carlsons emails and responses, so they’re plugging that leak. Imo.

@KNOWITALL It’s “toeing” the line. But don’t feel bad. Someone here on a local channel spelled it wrong (the same way you did) and then the reporter said it wrong.

@kritiper Thanks, I was excited. :)

I don’t think that Carlson was the ONLY one saying that there was NO election fraud, so I don’t think that was it. Fox lost over ½ their income for 2022 with just this 1 lawsuit & there’s another coming up right behind it that could be as easily successful. They have already fired several of their high dollar employees, so I wasn’t even shocked when I heard this…although I was briefly stunned when the breaking news popped up.

One thing that nobody is considering is that Carlson may have asked to be released because he’s been offered something better elsewhere & he negotiated a deal with Fox taking the blame so he could garner the sympathy of the devotees that he anticipates following him!!! Even bad news is beneficial when it’s all you’ve got.

As I said on the other thread, I suspect a trick. Waiting to hear if he’s going to enter the GOP presidential primary.

As I refrained from saying on the other thread, I think I would find it somewhat amusing to watch 45 & Carlson go head-to-head since they’ve been BFF’s for a while now. Watching them go at it could be entertaining. I wouldn’t want Carlson for the Prez & I don’t think the Dems have anybody who could beat him. Still, I do think he could beat old 45. One thing I do have going for me is that I’m likely to die in the not so distant future & leaving here knowing that there is NO reason to want to stay would make it much easier!!! I hope you’re wrong, but I had much the same thought when I first heard it. It is what it is & we BOTH might be surprised!!!

Stock reports say Newscorp is down a billion dollars minutes after they made this announcement. No idea how stocks work, have financial advisor with Edward Jones for that, but that sounds bad.

Besides the fact that he burned them with Dominion by admitting that he knew he was peddling lies by what was revealed in his texts, he also was apparently going to be sued by a former employee that worked for him. She is suing him and Fox for a misogynistic work environment. You know the same crap that keeps happening at Fox. They are also facing another lawsuit from another company about voter fraud and with everything revealed at Fox its going to be easy shooting. Also this company is going after several guest they had, like Guilliani and Sidney Powell to name a few.

He prob would have been OK from the Dominion suit, but he is risking additional dollar loss with the harassment suit and had to say bad things about management. That was the clincher.
