What are some other cultural differences like the ones that the Dalai Lama did that are innocent?

Years ago, when my brother went to France for the first time ever to visit his soon-to-be fiancee, he found out that it is very common over there for people to greet each other by kissing them on the cheek. In fact, when he was getting ready to say goodbye to fly back home, is one new friend told him that he would give him a French kiss. He was rather alarmed, needless to say, until he found out that for them a French kiss simply means a kiss on each cheek.
