Providing it doesn’t go to voicemail mail, or an answering machine?
I go ten rings before giving up.

In the days of landlines and before answering machines, I would let it ring up to 15 times if calling a residence,
I would hang up on a business after 8 rings.
Maybe 3–4, I’m not very patient. Ha!
If this happens, and it’s extraordinarily rare, I assume the voicemail is malfunctioning and hang up after 8 or 9. The only time I think I might be calling a landline is when I call a business.
4. That’s all the time I have for that endeavor.
Five or six, but usually the voicemail has picked up before then.
Exactly Four and a half rings.
7. Unless it’s a business and I know they should be answering. In that case, if I’m annoyed enough, I’ll let it ring til the cows come home.
3 or 4. In the landline days, probably 7 or 8.
5 for a residence.
Many more for a business
It entirely depends on the ID of the called party.
3 or 4. Enough to show as a missed call…
