As an adult have you ever indulged in a reward or treat that you had as a child?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) April 26th, 2023

Like going nuts on juice boxes or chocolate?

Humor welcome.

Sure, of course, with varying results. Found some things needed to stay with childhood.

Oh yes! I have indulged in a grilled cheese, a bottle of Hersheys choc syrup, and occasionally a box of kids cereal, like Fruit Pebbles or sonething horrid. But it’s rare, thankfully.
I really liked the Steak-Ums from the 80s but theyre gross as an adult ha!

I love to give myself a grilled cheese sandwich just like @KNOWITALL . There are some other foods I still enjoy.

@Hawaii_Jake They are soo good!

Recently I was sicker than I have been in awhile, so I asked my husband for a Happy Meal. For some reason their cheeseburgers always soothe my tummy, or its psychological. Idk.

@KNOWITALL McDonald’s had a happy meal just for adults recently. I have never tried it. It is just in the experimental phase. Sorry that I don’t have a link.

My Mom didn’t like pork nor rice, so we seldom had either of those.Once I started cooking for myself, pork chops with rice & gravy became almost a staple in my home!!! We have 1 grocery store here that carries quality meats at very reasonable prices. One of their big sellers is their pork steak & I buy those frequently because they’re cheaper than the chops, have excellent flavor & are very tender. I don’t always have rice with them, but it’s still an option!!! :}

A feature of the special holiday dinners we had at Thanksgiving and Christmas was a small glass of V-8 juice. It was served as an appetizer in a beautiful glassware set used for no other purpose. I loved V-8 juice for its savory taste and always wanted more than I got in that pretty little 4-ounce tumbler. My exceedingly (and necessarily) frugal family did not indulge in it on any other occasions.

When I started buying my own groceries as a young working woman, I was thrilled to be able to purchase my own big half-gallon can of V-8 juice. I refrigerated it until it was well chilled and then . . . drank it! Wow.

I am a big kid at heart. I try to enjoy childlike things everyday.
It could be food, bushwhacking, a game, being silly, to laughing so hard that milk comes out my nose.

@Forever_Free I lay in the yard and watch the trees sway with my cats. The grounding is so relaxing. :)

I recently bought a box of sugar cubes, and sometimes I eat one straight. Noone can stop me, and that is delightful!

I roast a few marshmallows over my stove.
The only time I ever had canned mandarin oranges was at my grandma and grandpa’s house for breakfast. Now I have them whenever I want.

@Jeruba, I agree on the V-8!!

…and the grilled cheese has to be cut into 4 triangles, or at least in 2 triangles!

@smudges I’m going to try a grilled cheese with jalapeno velveeta slices after my upcoming physical. Yum!

I am still indulging in Lego. Here are some things that I made :)

^^ Those are so cool! I’ve never even seen a lego in person. When I was little it was all about Tinkertoys. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tinkertoy_120137669430.JPG

@smudges those are not “Lego” as made by the brand that made Lego. Those are blocks manufactured in China. They are really popular in my country right now because they are cheap and come with many models. That’s why you can see Chinese/Asian references in the photos the tiger with the orange hat is supposed to be a Year of the Tiger figure, and the calico cat is a dancing cat pen holder

Personally I really like them. They pay much more attention to details than the original Lego. My only complaint is that some blocks don’t stick to tightly together.

Ironically it was because of my students that I got into Lego. I bought some Lego boxes for my students as rewards, and I got one spare box left. I opened the box because I wanted to see what I actually bought for my students, and I got hooked :)

Regularly. And, often I think to myself…....and I used to think adults didn’t like sweets.

@KNOWITALL I did exactly that last night. A hike in nature and then sit on the ground and watch the clouds roll by.
