The rape trial involving Trump will probably go to the jury next week. Do you have any speculation as to the outcome?

I think he’ll be found guilty and I don’t think it will have any effect on his “righteous” followers.

Doonesbury said it best…. “Guilty, guilty, guilty!” : https://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1973/05/29

I think 50/50 chance on the verdict. I only watched a few parts of it. I believe her, but it’s the typical problem of her doing things after the fact which put into question how traumatizing the whole thing was. Women often do that even after horrible things happen to them, but it hurts them in court.

If he’s found guilty I don’t think it will matter regarding his popularity.

I don’t think he will be found guilty. I believe he’s guilty but I think there’s too much doubt about the details, which I think will help him in court. Just my guess.

@jca2 “there’s too much doubt about the details” – - – reasonable doubt is not factored into a civil case.

I think Trump is toast !

Not guilty.

He’ll be found guilty, and absolutely nothing will happen. No consequences.

I’ve no idea what the likely outcome is, but I’m just a little irked by the terminology used here.

In civil cases, the defendant is found liable or not liable.

chyna's avatar

@Kropotkin Thank you for clarifying this for me.

As @Kropotkin correctly points out – the trial is for civil battery & defamation, not criminal rape charges.

Do the allegations fit with Trump’s character and known behavior? Probably.

But in my own view testimony and evidence on both sides was sloppy, and based on the mess they’ve been handed the jury could go either way.

Trump may be on his way to the courtroom to instruct his lawyer, her lawyer and most of all the Judge . . . SMDH !

Since it is a NY courtroom, he will likely be found guilty. But he will appeal and it will be overturned on appeal.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Interesting thought @seawulf575.

Bet ya he claims, “she not my type” as the reason for the appeal.

JLeslie's avatar

Is his point that he only rapes his type?

jca2's avatar

@JLeslie that he uses that as his defense shows how stupid he is.

MrGrimm888's avatar

I’m 50/50 too. I’m also positive there will be no consequences for Trump.
Even if he’s ordered to pay, his followers will literally give him the money.
Trump’s legal team will drag it as long as possible.

Verdict is in and will be read at 3 pm, EST, Tuesday May 9th.

jca2's avatar

yes it’s announced now. No on rape, yes on sexual abuse. Yes on defamation.

First of many verdicts against the Tangerine Turd.

JLeslie's avatar

People on TV saying maybe more Trumpers will peel away from him now. I really doubt that.

^^ One would hope they got “smarter than an eight-year-old !” ^^

They just said on the news here (NYC news) George Santos will face federal criminal charges. Yaay!

Ding dong the witch is dead.

I feel that he messed up in his deposition when he mistook a picture of Ms. Carroll for his “wife” Marla Maples, while standing beside his wife at the time Ivana. Then claimed the picture was blurry. Probably not his best moment.

I was listening to a conservative radio host before to see what he had to say, or should I say to hear what he had to say. He is not a fan of Trump at all. He said that Trump is now saying he was not given the opportunity to defend himself but he was. Trump is trying to spin it now.
