I find that I spend so much time looking for movies that I will enjoy. I often search “good movies to watch” on Google but that doesn’t help much :(
Can anyone suggest any movies? Preferably dramedy, rom-com (New York Minute, 27 Dresses) or murder mystery (Enola Holmes, Murder Mystery 1 and 2).
I don’t really like watching horror or thriller with mass murder or violent scenes.
I do however enjoy Sci-fi, my personal favourites are Divergent, The Hunger Games, Gemini Man and even The Man Runner.

Welcome to Fluther @Maya_01 .
Ok. Try “Enders Game.”
It’s a great movie that fits your criteria for young adult sci-fi. It is based on a series of books that were popular, when I was growing up…
Hope you enjoy.
Sci-Fi – I, Robot (for action),
Lathe of Heaven or Gattaca (for concept)
Rom-Com – The Ugly Truth, Shotgun Wedding, Dave, Enchanted, Connie and Carla, The In-Laws (with Michael Douglas), Better Off Dead
If you’re looking for a rom-com, here’s a cute one, Julia Louis Dreyfus and James Gandolfini. It’s not really a total comedy, but it is amusing. It’s touching and sweet. James Gandolfini is excellent as a total opposite from Tony Soprano. What a shame he passed away as this movie is a great example of how versatile he was as an actor:
It’s a movie the whole family could watch. There’s one post-sex scene but it’s nothing graphic.

Rom-com. Leap Year with Amy Adams.
Dramedy. As Good As It Gets.
Murder-mysteries. The Ghost Writer with Ewan McGregor. Evil Under The Sun with Peter Ustinov as Poirot.
Sci-fi. Moon with Sam Rockwell.
Another good Jack Nicholson one is Something’s Gotta Give. I always mix up Something’s Gotta Give and As Good As It Gets, because they’re both Jack Nicholson and they’re both kind of funny.
^^Oh murder-mystery and with Jack. Chinatown!
A good movie that’s on TV a lot around the holidays is The Family Stone. It’s about a large family and their holiday gathering preparations. It stars Diane Keaton and a bunch of other recognizable actors. It’s kind of funny, poignant, serious, sad.
@MrGrimm888 One of my favorite series!
The most recent Ant Man is pretty good.
“On A Wing and a Prayer.” We watched it a few days ago on either Netflix or Prime and really enjoyed it. It is a true story. I also watched “Tender Mercies” and liked it, but I don’t think it’s for everyone.
If you like Tom Hanks at all, you have to watch “The Terminal”.
“In 2004, Steven Spielberg directed Tom Hanks in ‘The Terminal’, a comedy-drama about a man that gets stuck living in New York’s JFK airport terminal for nine months, after becoming stateless due to the outbreak of a civil war in his fictionalised home country of Krakozhia.” Believe it or not, based on a true story
Also, I second “As Good As It Gets”.
—I realize almost all, if not all of these mentioned are old by your standards – hell by most people’s standards! I’ll try to come up with ones made in the past 5 years!
Thank you to everybody
